Just got back from the concert and it was simply amazing! THE best concert I have ever been to in my life. It was such a unique experience because we got to hear all these wonderful stories about the band's journey and the stories behind how the songs were written...and THANK YOU Fran and Andy, for visiting Boston twice this year. This is my 6th Travis concert and I actually got to meet Fran and Andy and took pictures with both afterward (again, THANK YOU for doing this for the fans!)...Oh, before I forgot, THANK YOU for giving us a preview of your new song!
Come back soon!

^_^

Excellent living room show. It was great to hear Fran narrate the history behind each song and how it came to be. I was super impressed with his voice and performance level, he never half-asses it. And it was awesome to see Andy’s skills up close! Very cool. Fran spoke about the power of music you love and how you can’t put a price on it, which resonated the most to me of all his stories. The only tough part of the night was having to be seated throughout all the wonderful music.

Thanks for taking the time to meet with the fans! I was so excited to meet Fran and be able to tell him personally how happy Travis’ music makes me. Thanks for a wonderful show and come back soon!

So nice to see the pics up and to revisit this great night. This was my first chance to see Travis and/or members of Travis in concert, and it was absolutely tremendous. I've never been to such a rockin' acoustic show! The stories and slides were as good as the performances. How great to watch Andy playing up close and personal, and Fran, of course, was brilliant.
The show and meeting them after was a great gift to the fans. Can't wait to see you boys again soon!

Very heart-warmed show! Fran came down to the audience while playing 20. All the episodes about the song-making is funny. The pictures taken by Nora was really matching "slideshow". And Andy's guitar technique is just great.

what can i say? travis really knows how to pull off a show. every time i see them, they are wonderful, amazing, fun, rocking, entertaining, and hilarious. i loved the setting – like we were sitting in travis’ living room as they told us stories, shared pictures with us, and sang us songs.

there were fun slides for a lot of the songs (butter lump! stinking bay! franz is cool! there shouldn’t be rust on a nuclear power plant!), and even more fun stories for ALL of the songs (oh no! not dougie – we can’t lose the cool one!)

some highlights included:

20 – fran came out to the middle of the crowd and sang among us – it was fabulous.

as you are – the best part of this song for me has always been andy’s rocktastic guitar solo and i was SO EXCITED that i got to see him play it live. it was PERFECT.

slideshow – franny sounded lovely and the accompanying slideshow was perfect. (“i got arrested for that!”)

flowers in the window – this story was one of the most amusing – including franny’s re-enactment of the echoing choking sound, and his description of neil’s… nakedness, AND dougie apparently sounds like his mother when he is drunk – i would love to witness that! also, the singing of “flower of scotland” and how no one really knows all the lyrics... ha! also – though andy didn’t really talk during the set, the smiles and faces he would make while franny was talking were PRICELESS. OH! fran’s impression of andy chewing his gum while asleep - so good!

beautiful – a great song made even better by fran’s performance of it with little acknowledgements of the giggling crowd.

before you were young – blew me away!

as it comes – new song! loved it and i’ll admit it almost made me cry as my grandfather passed away a couple of months ago so it made me think of my grandmother now living her life without her husband of 65 years by her side. also, fran sounded EXCELLENT on it – sang a bit deeper than usual and his accent was really coming through on it (which i love since i’m a total nerd when it comes to scottish accents.)

the requests that got played were only molly knows (which i absolutely LOVED. adorable.) and battleships, which has always been a favourite of mine, so i was thrilled. i was shouting a whole lot for indefinitely, which i would have loved to have heard, but there were too many songs i wanted to request!!!

ok – i’ll stop now and end just by saying that this was one of the most fun experiences ever and i am so happy i got to be there!

thank you SO MUCH franny and andy for doing this – what a special treat for your fans. we can’t wait for you to come back and tour – in whatever version of travis it may be – frandy or the whole band, i’ll be there either way!

p.s. thanks to fran and andy for signing very lovely messages on the picture i brought from my niece. megan was THRILLED when i showed her and was so proud that you liked her drawing. thank you so much! when she drew it, she was very concerned with getting all the details just right. she would call me to ask what color eyes everyone has – ha ha! such a perfectionist at the young age of 5!
