Seeing as we were able to sit at tables, I was able to write down all the songs they did:

20

All I Wanna Do Is Rock
Turn
The Fear
Writing To Reach You
Why Does It Always Rain On Me
Slide Show
Flowers In The Window
Driftwood
Sing
Pipe Dreams
Last Train
Love Will Come Through
Beautiful Occupation

My Eyes
Before You Were Young
As It Comes
-------------
Big Chair
Blue Flashing Light
The Weight
The Line Is Fine

Fantastic show!!! I won't even let the drunk girl who wouldn't shut up, almost spilled her beer & throw up on me, & took "sneaky" pix of My Eyes ruin the experience.
It was so nice of the guys to meet & greet @ the end. And I LOVE the bootleg disc!

This was one of the most enjoyable concerts I have ever attended. As always Travis never lets us down. I loved the fact that while it was sold out, the room was not shoulder to shoulder. There was room to spread out. I unfortunately left at the end of the regular set because I was exhausted from spending the whole day (and gearing up for the following day) moving. It was very intimate, inexpensive and fun. Fran could likely make a living in stand-up comedy, he easily wins the audience over. I was so bummed I did not stay for the encore after reading they closed with "The Weight", I'd have loved to hear them do that live. The show was well over 2 hours long. This is a truly talented band that really loves their fans....doing shows like this proves it.

I can't believe Travis plays to small crowds of a few hundred people. These guys could easily fill a much larger venue. It's obvious that they honestly care about the music and reaching the core fans that support them.

After the show Fran & Andy stayed to sign autographs for every last person...amazing!

Glad they played 'My Eyes' and 'Flowers in the Window', it wasn't on the set list last year at the Vic.

That was magical! I've followed Travis for 8 years, ever since VH1 Storytellers aired (and seemingly fell off the face of the Earth, which, in my opinion, hid them from a lot of U.S. fans - what a huge shame). I'd been waiting for this show for months, and though I was a little out of my mind on Saturday night, that was better than anything I could have ever expected. I am so touched that these guys would put together a show like this for the fans, letting us in on so many private moments and inspirations.

Fran and Andy, thanks. You are true rock stars.

I hope everyone was able to get the bootleg CD at the show. I have listened to Fran explain how "Side" was written over and over again, and it still makes me burst into laughter every time!

This was and EXCELLENT show. I believe I sat at the same table as "Lizzie B", because i know exactly who she was talking about with regard to the drunk chick standing behind us. Fran had to get on her once about trying to take pictures of his kid during "my eyes" then she did it anyway when he wasn't looking. I think she considered the intimate venue to be a personal invitation to profess her (stalker) love to Fran. Maybe Fran is used to these crazies, if so, he has my condolences

I was just sure I was going to write another novella review, but in the end I think I'll just keep it short and sweet. I know everyone is breathing a sigh of relief.

It was a whirlwind trip to the windy city for us – 8 hours by train, an hour to the hotel by 'L' (we came by train but stayed at O'Hare because it was cheap…go figure!), another 45 minutes to Martyrs by L and bus. We got there an hour and a half early, hoping to get good seats and have a bite to eat. Lo and behold -- every seat was taken already. There were some stools along the back wall that we had hoped to move closer to the stage, but were informed that was a no-no. We played at Martyrs a few years ago and knew it was small, but somehow figured there'd be seats for all. So we sat against the wall and had some food, which wasn't bad.

In the meantime, the rest of the club began to fill. With giants. Seriously, I've never seen so many tall people in all my life. And somehow they managed to position themselves directly between us and the stage. I'm just a wee gal, and I somehow seem to attract tall people at shows like bears to honey.

So by the time Fran and Andy appeared – well, at least I think they appeared, because I could hear them – we were separated from the stage by a wall of really, really tall people. It was almost comical, and we shared a laugh with the folks sitting next to us because it was so implausible.

I suppose the lack of visuals allowed us to focus on the audio, which was extraordinary. After so many listens, I'm used to hearing Travis songs as a whole, with all the recorded parts intact. It's somehow static, a snapshot in time. But this night, we were hearing the songs in a whole new way. Guitar parts I'd heard a million times took on new weight and over and over I was really taken by the intricacy and melodiousness of the notes themselves and the way in which they were played or colored with effects.

Also a revelation were the origins of the songs themselves, the meaning behind the words, and the surroundings and situations in which they were written. Embarking on writing our third CD and feeling a bit of trepidation about it, it was reassuring to hear that others struggle with songwriting, too, from time to time. Fran did such a great job of engaging the audience and storytelling.

Speaking of Fran, I thought his voice was in great form. Maybe the best I've heard it, although this was only our third time to "see" Travis or a version thereof. Husky at times and clear and lilting at others, there was something in the way he sang that seemed relaxed and spacious. I don't know, that sounds corny, but describing music with words seems so futile sometimes.

It would have been fun to stay after and pick up a bootleg but we had to catch the bus before it stopped running for the night. We left the next day, exactly 24 hours after we arrived, but we were able to squeeze in a trip to the top of the Sears Tower (or whatever it's called now) and be touristy on the glass cubes 103 stories up. See, everything is tall in Chicago!

Oops…so much for brevity…! Anyway, it was a wonderful treat even in spite of not being able to see much, and we're glad to have made the trip. Thanks for makig it happen!
