The best show I've been to. You guys were great. I loved how you explained the back stories of the songs. Thanks for sticking around after and talking to the fans. Please come back soon.

What a beautiful show at the lovely Swedish American Hall last night in S.F.! Thank you, thank you for playing all my favourites and sticking around until the end! You know a song is great when it can be stripped down to just two guitars and still sound amazing! Glad we got you back in time for the gig Fran ;)
Cheers m'dears,
Lila

This show was beyond words! But I’ll try to put it into words :)

It was so different from any other concert that I’ve been too. Fran and Andy just walked right up at the beginning; Fran with his laptop in hand fumbled a bit with setting up the projector. Once they got underway, Fran told us his idea behind these concerts: To play through some Travis songs, chronologically as they were written, with explanations about where they came from (and also to write the new album!). Fran started off with saying that since they have about 150 songs it might be a long night and hoped we wouldn’t mind staying around a while. We did not.

Fran introduced every single song (I think-maybe not Driftwood) with how it came to be. Some songs were accompanied by slides explaining things, such as geography, Noel Gallagher, or the flags of the countries where the song was written. My favorite slides were of Flowers in the Window written on a hotel envelope. I loved the melting snowman doodle! These slides were accompanied by a hilarious story of how they almost “lost the cool guy” (Dougie).

It felt like we were invited into a private living room to listen to the story of Travis for a couple hours. Fran messed up lyrics and chords every now and then, which only added more charm to the show and reminded me of why I love these guys so much! It was great to hear how all these songs still sound amazing with just two guitars (or a guitar and a piano!), which is another testament to the band’s strength. Some of the highlights for me were hearing More Than Us, Only Molly Knows, and Coming Around (with Andy rocking the 12 string!). This show was truly a treat for us fans and I hope the guys consider things like this in the future. An unforgettable experience and I can’t wait for the CD to remember it by!

Like always, the guys were kind enough to hang around at the end (inside the venue) and sign things and take pictures. Thanks so much! I brought a friend who had only ever heard Travis in my car and is really not that much into music, but we spent the weekend after the show uploading all the Travis songs from my CDs to her computer, upon her request. :) Yet another testament to the amazingness that is Travis.

P.S. Sorry for the almost ridiculous length of this.

It was such a great experience. I never imagined I would find out how these songs came to be. For the slideshow, the small venue, the stories and music, the brilliant concept, Thanks Fran and Andy!
You are generous musicians!
