What a fantastic show! I felt like a VIP getting the great stories and background of the songs. Thanks so much!

Night two was excellent. Fran did Twenty tonight without being plugged in or without a mic, which really made it special. I have to admit, I get very teary eyed when I hear this song.

This is the set list, maybe slightly out of order:

Twenty
More Than Us
Falling Down
All I Want To Do Is Rock
Writing to Reach You
Driftwood
The Last Laugh of the Laughter
Turn
Why Does It Always Rain On Me
As You Are
Blue Flashing Light
Slide Show
Dear Diary
Sing
Side
Flowers In The Window
Love Will Come Through
Closer
My Eyes
Chinese Blues
Before You Were Young
Holiday
She's So Strange

As You Are had me in tears, Blue Flashing Light was absolutely amazing, which might sound hard to believe since it's just an acoustic and electric guitar. Dear Diary and More Than Us were also excellent.

I really enjoyed the show. I got to sit in the front row and really loved the intimacy. I felt closer to Frannie than he does to Jake Gyllenhaal. :)

At the beginning I thought Frannie seemed a little hoarse so I was concerned he wouldn't make it through the evening. But he powered through and some of the songs came out amazing. Others were nice.

The show felt a little rushed but when you're trying to squeeze 20 songs in 2 hours, I'm guessing it's going to be rushed. There were times I felt guilty for wanting more!

Other than that a great show as always. I may pop over tonight if the football game doesn't go into overtime. I can't wait for the official bootleg. These boys can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. Although they both need a haircut!

It’s Tuesday afternoon and I imagine the tour bus is making it’s way toward Texas. Future show-goers, you’re all in for a marvelous treat.

Highlights from Los Angeles, night of 10/10/09.
*The intimacy of the venue – priceless! – I wish all shows were this personal.
*Acoustic stylings – I’ve always enjoyed acoustic/demo versions of song…love the striped-down, honest nature of the music. What treat to hear some of my favorites (“Falling Down”, “She’s So Strange”, “As You Are”, “Dear Diary”, “The Last of the Laughter”) in this format.
*Storytelling – essential in setting the mood…a mood that was lovely, close-knit, comical, congenial, sentimental. It was great fun to hear the background about how the music/lyrics came about – put a new spin on the songs, made them new/fresh again. The story behind “As You Are” was very touching – it was very generous for Fran to share that story…felt privileged to hear it.
*Photographs – the evening was full of anecdotes and personal notes…the photos were no exception. Humorous moments a plenty, but being a sentimentalist I loved the photos of the diaries as well as those of friends and loved ones. Again, so generous to share.
*Meet & greet/photo-op afterwards – Fran and Andy…down-to-earth, unassuming, natural, humble, super nice guys. Thank you for taking the time to say hello…it was truly special.
*Seeing Nigel Godrich at the show – a cool “little” perk.

Thanks, guys – wish I could have attended all four nights! – look forward to your next visit.
