What a brilliant gig. This was my second Travis show, but the first seeing them as headliners. I planned on meeting Lizzie B and jenjen early, but I was running behind and by the time I got there, the line was nearly around the front of the building. Luckily, I knew who I was looking for and found them at the front of the line. Such nice girls for letting me join them! It was bitterly cold outside (as it tends to be in Chicago in October lol) and not much warmer inside. But once everyone got jammed in there, it heated up pretty nicely. We managed to secure a spot right in front of Dougie's mic, front row against the barricade. I was ecstatic. Rooney opened for them. They were a good opening act for Travis. Then after what seemed an eternal intermission between bands, the opening strains of "Happy To Hang Around" began. I just remember the vibrancy and joy radiated by not only the fellas on the stage, but the crowd as well. And I'm sure as is everyone, I'm always thrilled to see Neil doing so well. Fran's political and social commentary is always so informed/informative and I praise him for openly speaking his mind. Memorable moments: Dougie dropping his mallet during "Somewhere Else", Fran's monologue regarding living with the television and radio turned to the 'off' position, Andy's famous amp top romp, the famous peck, and most importantly, the world live premiere of Fran on piano with "Some Sad Song". How privileged I feel to have been part of the group that was treated to that first. Fran, you've no reason to be nervous, son, it was great! I really couldn't imagine a more perfect Travis show. I got some really fantastic photos, but even without them, its a concert I won't soon forget!

Quite possibly the best night of my life. When I heard Travis was doing a small tour of the states and was heading to chicago, I had to buy tickets home. My best friend Lizzie B purchased my ticket to the show as my birthday present and I flew home from school to chicago for 20 short hours.
Almost as soon as my plane landed and I met Lizzie at the el stop, we headed over to the Riv for the show. We met up with pictureinwhite and were able to make our way to front, right in front of Dougie. Franny had a cold but was still amazing. Standing in front of Dougie, especially when he dropped the mallet, was hysterical. It was an amazing concert and when it ended, I was so sad.
After the show, Lizzie and I were lucky enough to meet Dougie, Andy and Neil. I have the photos with the guys and others from the show in a special picture frame on my desk. By far the best birthday present anyone could have gotten me. Travis, you guys need to come back to the states so I can return the present to my best friend!

I remember this concert like it was "YESTERDAY". I remember oh so very well how Happy To Hang Around was looping in the backround then suddenly you hear click, click "They were following me they were following everyone". It was the best concert I've ever been to. I aslo remember when me and Mike where standing outside waiting for Travis, then suddenly Andy pulled up in a
white taxi, the coolest thing was, is we where so speachless we didn't say anything but he came up to us anyway gave us autographs and everything. I will always remember how nice he was to us, even though he makes millions and is such a sweet guitar player. Then after he came, the rest of Travis showed up and I was able to get all their autographs. Remember Dougie and Fran you guys promised to come to Minnesota, so that means you have to come. We love you guys so keep writing music like The Beatles did.

This is still one of if not the best show I have ever been apart of. I have so many memories of this show, inclueding: meeting the band before and after the show, standing right in front of my favorite guitar player in the world (Mr. Dunlop), Mr. Dunlop handing me his pick during a song (if you look at the black and white photo of this show you will see my hand doing my best to "play" his guitar. Travis has forever changed my life, and I am looking forward to more changes.
