We ended up pulling in at around 3am Sunday morning to the Stakis for a nice kip after we all crashed out on the bandbus.

With the gig on the Monday we had all planned to take in a movie together with the Remy Zero chaps and maybe then on for a curry but that would have to be later on today.

So the issue at hand was how to spend Sunday in a closed up town after arising at 9am TOO EARLY!

After an afternoon spent looking for something open, buying records, having a half with Andy, Dougie desperately trying to get his haircut, Fran in bed we reconvened at 4pm for "Eyes Wide Shut".

Remy didn't show so in we went for Kubrick's excellent last film re-emerging impressed and chuffed at last to see a film totally at odds with the usual Hollywood mush. It was a nice surprise to meet up with the Cedric and Cinjun from Remy Zero afterwards, so off we went for a little sup and some good chat.

Campag Velocet were playing at Sheffield Uni' so two hours later we were in the bar both bands reeling from Andy's first rounds of Aftershock and collectives rounds of cheap lager.

Fuzzy headed and slightly toasted after a really top night with the Zero everyone makes it through soundcheck for plastic Yorkshire pudding and beef and table footie in the dressing room.

At previous shows Sheffield has often proved a hard and cold place to perform although the last British tour show at the Leadmill was a cracker. Oasis '97 was a bit subdued so last night had to be good. The Zero had sobered up and played a cracker so it was up to us to go and have it and after the last four belters why not.

We coasted through a really swinging set. Turn and slideshow were really good tonight along with Villageman but opening tonight with funny thing sounded special and as usual W.D.I.A.R.O.M goes down superbly.

Personally we're getting better on every level each show and it's great because it's only the fifth date on the tour and it can only keep moving up. Some old pals from early Travis tour's showed up and we had a few drinks and a laugh while Dougie continued his ten in a row table footie winning streak.

After a wee bit it was back to the Stakis and some sleep but it's now Tuesday and some folk have a hangover! Onwards to Leeds then.

lots and lots of love

What can you say, being in my 2nd year at Sheffield Uni and getting to see Travis is the teeny tiny (relatively) Octagon feels like a true gift! Can't say I enjoyed Remy but Travis will never disappoint... Looking down the setlist I can remember Yeah Yeah Yeah and Village Man because they haven't played those since (for me), and also remember everyone waiting for "Baby One More Time" which was all the rage! 20 was no doubt the highlight for me though....
cheers
Ryan
