...Our summer seemed to become packed out, with Travis appearing all over the place like a rash. It wasn't long before we learnt they'd be appearing at a Radio 1 roadshow. Cool! Where? Newquay....hmmm! Still, you know us, we made it down there and even managed to find a place on a campsite despite it being Eclipse day, and everything was going to plan - all except for the hideous, Travis style weather. Luckily we'd stopped at Stonehenge to watch the eclipse on the way but in Cornwall the rain thundered down, and we wondered how many eclipse hunters were cursing Travis' imminent arrival in town! However, things took an unexpected turn and as Roadshow day dawned, so did one of the warmest days of the Summer - blazing sun, soaring temperatures, Travis on stage and not a cloud in sight! Andy had mentioned on 'The Big Breakfast' over Christmas that they'd broken their 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me?' hex at V99, but we strongly believe we witnessed it in Newquay!!
A little while later though, stuck in the post eclipse, homeward bound traffic we did start to question why we'd embarked on our little journey to Newquay. Thanks to the tight live radio schedule, Travis mimed two songs, during which we weren't even allowed to stand up! We had to sit cross-legged on the grass like good little children incase somebody , shock horror, might start to tap their feet or something! Still, we'd watched them win over a few hundred more fans so yeah, it was worth it!
Listening to the radio during our eight hour snail-pace drive home, we heard Travis get a name-check on the Mark & Lard show, thanks to Dougie voting in the Cheesily Cheerful Chart Challenge! It was quite humourous but, hang on, how come Travis had made it back to London so quickly while we were still sat in traffic? We later found out they'd flown to and from Newquay in their own private jet!! Bastards!!! ;)
