oooh, I love this topic! I need to think about it and come back, but I wanted to leave my anecdote about Magnolia. My first job was at a movie theater, and I was working there when Magnolia came out! My coworker rented out (well, he got our manager to put on the projector) a screen for after work, and we had a private screening of Magnolia for a date. I was 15 and had to pretend I understood that film…I still don’t know if I do…but it’s a classic. 1999 was arguably the best year ever for film and I feel so lucky I can say I worked at a cinema during that time.

Hiya, Neil! Love to hear you’ve been creating and making music in the midst of the heatwave… and hopefully keeping cool.😎

Yeahhh it’s worse for me every time and I’ve been ping ponging between the UK and USA for decades… guess that’s the problem , “decades” of jet lag correlates with decades of ageing. And well, I don’t have the discipline for all of these techniques out there , so I just embrace a few days of suffering. 😩

Well, I started collecting vinyl in the past few years, but most of your language was lost on me 😛 and reminds me why I got a D when I decided to take upper-division physics of music at university, because I thought…Well, I never even took high school physics, so not sure what I thought lol. Hence the D. But one day, maybe I will have audiophile-level knowledge. For now, it’s Beats Pro with my MacBook. It allows for an aux connection so I can bypass Bluetooth when I’m sat at my computer. Cool thread, makes me think I should upgrade.

Not to be a broken record (heh), but I too love Alive. My just turned 8-year-old’s favorite Travis song is ‘Bus’ (and she even sings most of the deep tracks word for word; I’m very impressed, lol… One day, she was randomly singing ‘Boxes’).

My daughter LOVES Poochie Pete. She loves music and dogs and Travis soooo. 🙂 I ordered it from the Portobello Bookshop for international delivery and was incredibly pleased with their service, so I sent Poochie Pete to my friend for her son’s birthday, haha. (Aside: They live in Boston, and now they’re like obsessed with Scotland after the awesome World Cup experience brought to Boston)

A, B, and C all sound good to me…wise words on getting up early…. I feel this but can’t seem to comply with myself 😆. My dad is 77 and can sleep ‘til noon so if it’s genetic I’ll never be an early bird 🐦 🤔.
Nice to meet you. 😀

I love reading all of these stories! ArtJunkie, you danced with Fran! Whoa! RockNYarn, I love your dolls and followed the journey on socials! Jacklyn C, love a signed boarding pass.
I do have my own heartwarming story. Last year in Denver at the Travis gig, I had seats next to a balcony bar with a heavy hand. After the show, I didn’t realize how inebriated I was (omg), as I was on cloud9, and as we walked around the back, there was Neil, Andy, and Dougie coming out the door! Well, I first recognized Dougie when I had my camera out and got a selfie with him. 🙂 Then I may have blacked out tbh cos that’s the only selfie I got…lol, again that dang bar next to our seats. My husband was more clear-headed and met the other two properly as well, and we got a signed setlist. <3
One fun, heartwarming aspect is that while we stood outside for a while waiting for Fran to emerge (he had his injury), we eventually had to leave to get to our babysitter. We’d stood shooting the shit with other fans for an hour or two, and it was so much fun. Well, one of the guys there actually lived in our same suburb, so he took the 3/4 signed setlist for us, and said he’d get Fran to sign it! We left, and sure enough, this man got our setlist signed by Fran, and we met the next day to get it. It’s now a framed prize possession. 🙂

Hi everyone. Fran, you painted such a vivid picture of your writing- may the roof prove to be fruitful!
I’m new here! The last message board I was active in was for new parents… when my teenager was a baby…now I feel old. This medium still feels super cool. Nice to meet you all!
