This was my first Travis concert, plus, my first EVER concert.
I was only 14 and I had a dodgey incident when the guy asked my age, and not knowing the legalities of Spain yet (having moved over in the summer), I told the truth. He then said I couldn't go in. I would have cried right there and then I swear! I had found out about the concert very last minute and had only suggested going as a kind of "wouldn't it be great...?" thing to my parents. But my Dad paid for the tickets for my birthday and off we went! So when the guy said I couldn't go in... but when he saw how upset I looked and my Dad said we'd come all the way from England just for the concert (just a TEENY lie...), he let us in! Hoorah!
Inside I bought a t-shirt which I still treasure, and then made my way as to get as close as I could. I was perhaps, 3 metres from the stage. Not as close as I was the second time I went (25th nov barcelona 2003), but at the time I thought it was brilliant!
My first concert! And it was TRAVIS! XD
When they came on stage it was... well, a dream come true! I was so happy... when I think of the concert it still makes me smile! It was like, as long as they kept singing, i was happy, and nothing bad could EVER happen! The guys looked great and I remember thinking what COOL trousers Andy had... they were just plain jeans but they had tons of cool sewn on patches, like smily faces and things. Dougie was all in denim. Fran had a cool stripey top on. Before stripes were cool of course. He never has anything when it's "in", he always manages to beat fashion to it in a way! That's like, cooler than cool in my opinion! Neil I can't remember... he likes to hide behind his drum kit too much! lol! I didn't take any pictures because I didn't have a camera, but I still remember it all like I saw them yesterday! I even memorized all the songs they sang so I could tell everyone after! It was SUCH an amazing concert, and although I've been to ones since... I think it remains the best purely because it was my first concert experience, and man, WHAT an experience it was!
Rock on Travis!
You guys are the BEST!
