It's another early start... we meet in the lobby of the hotel at 10am, everyone looking a bit tired and weary.
Dougie is first down, followed by Fran, Andy and then finally Neil. Our first appointment of the day is about an hours drive along the Pacific Highway - it's a nice journey, but as in San Diego, the weather is grey and cloudy making the sea look very cold!
We arrive at a hillside villa in Malibu, with spectacular views over the coastline, at about 11am. This is where the BBC film "LA Pool Party", and today Travis are performing on the show. The set is bustling with people... cameramen, sound guys, the three presenters, and about a hundred (very cold looking!) pool party people. There's a small stage in the grounds of the villa, and the band quickly get into position.
Fran sings a live vocal, but everyone else mimes along to "Side" and "Flowers In The Window", whilst the pool party guests dance along. After a couple of takes, the director seems happy, and the band sit around in the emerging sunshine for another hour, before Fran and Dougie are called to record an interview with Jayne Middlemiss on a hammock next to the pool.
As we leave the set, Coolio is arriving. His hair is even more spectacular in real life. We drive back along the coast, and get back to the hotel for 2pm... lunchtime!!
Everyone heads up to the rooftop pool to get some food and relax in the sunshine. The crew, having dismantled the stage at San Diego and driven overnight to Los Angeles, are making the most of the good weather and topping up their tans. Fran and Nick decide to play a few games of tennis, and after some lunch Andy heads off clothes shopping.
As the sun goes down, everyone heads off in different directions - some go straight to the bar, others back to their rooms for a bit of rest and relaxation or to check their email. For most, today is a rare day off in an otherwise hectic tour schedule, but Fran and Dougie have yet more work to do.
Fran and Dougie are guests on "Loveline" tonight, a 2-hour radio show where people can phone-in with their sexual, relationship, addiction and general personal problems.
On arrival at the studios we're introduced to the presenters of the show - Dr. Drew and Adam Corolla. Drew is a professional psychcologist and Adam is a comedian, a combination which turns out to be hilarious. Fran and Dougie do their best to give advice to callers, and a couple of Travis songs are played throughout the course of the show.
With Loveline completed, we say our goodbyes and drive back to the hotel - arriving back at 12:30am... mmmm time for bed (via the bar!).
