I saw a good thing (think it was Tim Minchin) who pointed out a big problem with AI in the arts.

Most artists (novelists and writers excepted) create art because language alone is insufficient to express themselves.

AI responds to language prompts so therefor falls short for me in terms of expression.

I think there is obviously a lot of positive uses for it, but think we need to be super aware of where and how it is being used.

Good choices, my favourite by Dougie was actually a b side, it’s a lovely tune called ‘A Little Bit of Soul’ and its absolutely beautiful.

For me, yeah it’s ’The Sea’, ‘Boxes’ and ‘3 Times and You Lose’ (co written with Fran)

    Great choices here!!!

For me it would have to be Jeff Buckley in the Vic Bar at Glasgow School of Art, at the time we knew nothing more of him than he was Tim Buckley’s son (this was a bit before Grace came out).

This beautiful young man with the most beautiful of voices reduced the normally raucous Vic Bar to pin drop silence for the next hour, it was stunning! Still a horrendous loss for him to have lost his life so young.

Hi everyone, yeah there is a couple of great collections on Spotify (the Travis Rocks one almost made me fall off a treadmill when it came out because I was laughing so much at the studio memories when listening to it!)

I’d love to see them come out physically one day as there is some of my favorite Travis songs in there.

My trivia question, who took the picture on the front cover?

I love the music, though I realise that they may not be in the position they are now without their image, for me it kind of detracts from the music a bit. Love that they have managed to do something different and interesting with a guitar and drums, though I think without lyrics and melody and the emotional thrust of the human voice, rock music never connects in the same way for me.

I’ve been enjoying Mary Janes by Maisie Peters, don’t know much about her but it’s got a great lyric. And then found an old song by a band Called Frog called God Loved a Woman, honestly it is a sublime track, the guitar is beautiful, the vocal is vulnerable, the lyric is poetry, check it out!!!!

I’m currently reading a Vincent Persichetti on 20th Century Harmony, not for everyone but I’m enjoying the fresh perspective.
