I don't know if its a fault on the KCRW site.
But some seem to find Frans voice a little weird on J smith.
If thats how it sounds on the album, then i love it anyways!
The contrast between the voice and the chior is wonderfull.
It just sounds so rocky and realy suits this song.
Members of the congregation...
What do you think??

The first impression I got was that it sounded as if he was singing in slow motion, you know, like a bit too low. It's hard to explain it in english xD.
I don't like how it sounds so much, but after the third time of listening to it I kinda got used to it. Still I prefer Fran's "normal" voice, all the way. I hope his voice doesn't sound like that in the rest of the songs.

But I think there's a chance it might be the website, as I said on the other thread :oP.

Anyway, the song is a masterpiece.

sounds ok to me ! Only had the chance to listen to it once

I prefer Fran's voice lower rather than high pitched like on some songs anyway.

Oh Frans voice.
I have to say, I thought his voice was a range lower at the gigs in febuary. Oh yes i did.
More mature if you like.

Maybe it's slightly different but i don't hear it at all. Sounds perfectly normal to me. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Sounds exactly like Fran. I also prefer his lower voice (a lot of the new songs are like this), although his voice on Coming Around is wonderful.

Yes, you're right. On the live songs, it is lower. Which i am very, very pleased about. One of the criticisms of Selfish Jean was that it was a bit too sweet. Especially Something Anything from what i hear. He really lets his lower tone come in. Just like Chris Martin is saying about the new Coldplay album. :)

It sounds different on my PC but on my Laptop it sounds exactly like Fran. Strange.

I love the song either way though!

It sounds great to me. I think the deeper tone fits really well with this track and it's very rock n roll.

I think Fran now has the option of using baritone ,tenor or falsetto , his voice is really quite versatile , amazing and lucky too .

Perhaps someone else has already commented this; but the thing about the voice is in fact an audio problem of the radio.
I'll tell you why: i downloaded Colplay new song (Violet Hills) and the voice sounds also different from the one you hear on the radio. It seems that all the songs sounds a bit "down on the mood" haha (don't know how to say in English) but there's a bit of delay when they play the track... Compare it and you'll see.

To summ up: there's a problem with the audio...

(i love it anyway haha)

It sounded different to me yesterday...at home, but at work today, his voice does sound more like his normal voice. maybe it has to do with our computers/speakers? i dunno.

Yes, you're probably right. I've got my headphones on and it sounds about right. But some people might just be using computer speakers which aren't always the best. Put some headphones/earphones on people! Sounds amazing! :)
