The REM gig last night reminded me of one:
In Drive, I used to think it went 'maybe you're crazy and the hair'. He is in fact singing 'maybe you're crazy in the head'.
Sort of makes more sense, doesn't it.

Doesn't it make sense that they're saying, "Hold on loosely, but don't let go; if you cling too tightly you're gonna blow your load."? I thought it was about masturbation, apparently not. |

Oh, when I first listen to an English song I always understand something completely wrong.
The best example I got is "Mhairi's Wedding", a traditional Scottish song. There is a line that says:
"Past the shieling through the town
All for sake of Mhairi"
I always understood:
"Put a shilling through the tongue
All for sake of Mhairi"
and I thought: "Ouch, that gotta hurt!!!" ;)
It's defenitely not easy when it isn't your language... |

Sometimes I can hear her humming: nananana rock around the clock

I just randomly thought of this.

I thought that for the longest time, and also thought it was the stupidest lyric and didnt understand why anyone would write that! Turns out, they didnt. |

When i was at college there was a lad that used to sing Billie Jean by Michael Jackson but he used to sing:
"Billie Jean, rock my lover" instead of "Billy Jean is not my lover"
