would someone please compose an epitaph for my future?
thanks.
tomorrow is my first written final, and I'm nervous. no, that's wrong. I'm panicking. I went online to calm down, but in five minutes I have to review about 50 pages *sigh*.

since I'm NOT in a "credit system" course (Germany didn't really have the BA/MA system until 2005), the exams that are now coming up are the ONLY ones that determine my end grade. no matter how great my grades were in seminars etc.
hate that system.
so please, I need you to cross your fingers and toes for me tomorrow for my politics final. US politics will be my downfall. (errr, that would be 1-3p.m. board-time, I think).
and on thursday morning: ENGLISH.
and on friday: LINGUISTICS.

*sigh*

once those 3 exams are over, I'll have to start studying for the oral ones in April (English, British/American Cultural Studies and American History)
and once those 3 are done - it'll be dissertation-time.
and then, in August, Business/Economics-time.
and then, in September/October: SPANISH (aaaargh, why did I have to choose SPANISH, Mónica?! ;P)
and THEN I need a Job.
today a friend of mine lost his (job). bc of the crisis... great time to graduate.

*off to panic a little more*

So what exactly are you studying? English as a major? and Spanish/Economics as 2 minors?

I'm studying German & English both as majors ...I'm not soo afraid of the linguistics but of the older E. literature or older history of the E. speech...hated it..

Good luck :)

It wasn't that expensive... I payed about 160£ for it :)

Finally received mine today, I love it! The sound quality is a giant leap from the (normal) Zen, you don't realise that you're missing out until you listen to a properly good player. Even with a cheap pair of Sennheiser earphones I feel like my old player was filled with electronic cotton wool.

Sorry Alex, I'm probably not making you feel any better, the Zen X-Fi has way better sound than the Zen so don't worry :) Oh, and mine was £125 but that was an amazing deal and I'm not sure they ship to strange Norwegian places :P

thaaaanks!

and no, it's nothing to do with majors and minors (not a German "Magister"), it's kind of a graduate degree - there's no English word for it, the German word ("Diplomstudiengang") would mean sth completely different in English if you translated it *lol*.

So, it's a 5 year course (or even 6) and the "new" English name is "International Business and Cultural Studies" (auf Deutsch "Sprachen, Wirtschafts- und Kulturraumstudien" oder einfach "Diplom-Kulturwirtschaft" ;)) You can study it in Passau (where I am) and in...(wait for it)... Buenos Aires*lol*.

We have to choose a "cultural area" to study (I chose Britain & the USA) and do history, politics or geography, literature and cultural studies courses. and the "area we choose" determines the first language (so, in my case: English) and THEN we have to choose another language (me:Spanish) and do four finals in Business and Economics (stupid, really, my finals in August will be on "company organisation", accounting, international economic relations and institutional economics) AND pass two law-exams (which I did by the skin of my teeth!) AND complete at least one internship and go abroad for at least 3 months. *sigh*. oh and write a dissertation, of course, and at least one stupid field-study (which I haven't done yet*aaah*)

And once we finish, we can call ourselves "Kulturwirt" ;P and know "a bit of this and a bit of that" but nothing special/substantial, really, argh.

I wouldn't be afraid of the linguistics exam, but the professor wants us to know every single word by heart. so if I describe how - for example - an IC-Analysis works in my own words, it'll be marked as wrong. it's really annoying. and it doesn't make sense at all.

ok, I'm off to finish breakfast and then revise a little more... last night I realised I left out the ONE topic in the list that might be asked because of the financial crisis - aaaargh. I'm so stupid. I know how interest groups operate and how election-funding works and how many times American presidents have ever vetoed a bill successfully etc etc. but I have left out the whole topic of Federalism. I'm so stupid, I always study the wrong stuff!!! ARGH.

Oh I wouldn't want to go to Norway to get an mp3-player, that would be a drag :P

Oh I freakin hate I-tunes!!! I use Spotify to listen to music on my computer and sometimes I find music that I'd like to purchase and put on my mp3-player, but almost everything these days are only avaible on I-tunes!!! I don't want to download that shite, I have enough stuff on my computer already! Artists please release your music on online stores where you can just download the song and save it to your computer, I'm fed up with all these different music-plugins :(

Howdy, I just spoke to jen and bill, and they told me to check out some pills they saw on Oprah. They said they lost 23 pounds in about amonth with them. Anyway you can find them here for only $5...

Who the heck are Jen and Bill and why do they think that I'd be interested in anything that's been on Oprah? Must be a virus...

I should fill my company tax declaration form + mine and hubby's while I'm at it. It's a drag, I really loathe it. Ours is a small business, so hireing an accountant doesn't seem to make sense financially, even if it would save my poor nerves.

The same for me, I'm a freelance translator so I don't need any accountant really but being allergic to all forms of calculation it would save my nerves too!

A friend of mine called and was worried because her husband's entire department were required to attend a meeting.

Given the economic woes, this usually means "you are all about to get laid off."

I told her to call me as soon as she knew the news. She just did....

They were called into a meeting to be told that their co-worker, Timothy, who has been gone since last week for a surgery, would be coming back as Tabitha.

They just had an hour long "sensitivity training" with a specialist in the field.

I've never been so amused and relieved at the same time.

By the way, he is a computer programmer and said while he works closely with this now female, the only small clue was this now female's eyebrows were quite sculpted and thin. Other than that, no idea.
