has passed away brutally and we are devastated. His wife and him are our best friends and she's now left alone with a 2 years old boy and pregnant.
I will read a text for my friend, about frienship, on Monday during the ceremony, which I am currently trying to write. It is very hard.
Thanks for reading. Please have a thought for his soul, may he rest in peace.

Thank you for your replies dear friends and also if you just read this thread for your thoughts. Sorry this is perhaps hard to read so pass your way if you wish, it is fine.

It is very sad and difficult, at the minute I write his body is beeing cremated. It is nothing though when I think about his wife Anais, who only married him in December. We went to say our goodbyes yesterday Rob and I, and god that was hard to see him...well to see his body resting there.

It wasn't him anymore, no.
Pascal was gone, yet he had no place he was going to.

Hey Mr Tambourine man, play a song for him
He's not sleepy and there is no place he's going to
Hey ! Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for him
In the jingle jangle morning he'll come followin' you.

Sophie, that was really nicely expressed...and a very fitting song. I am really sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for you and your husband and for his wife and children. That's truly devastating. This is something that my great-aunt read at my grandmother's funeral. I don't know who wrote it (maybe someone out here does!) but I have read it many times since and find it very comforting:

I am standing on the shore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the
morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean; she
is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand
and watch her until at length she hangs like a
speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky
come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says,
"There, she's gone!"
Gone where?
Gone from my sight, that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as
when she left my side, and just as able to bear her
load of living freight to their place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at that moment when someone at my
side says, "There, she's gone!" there are other eyes
watching her coming; and other voices ready to
take up the glad shout, "There she comes!"

My grandmother had cancer and we knew she was dying so it was even more meaningful because she read this to me a few months before she died and we had a lovely conversation about it.

I hope it brings you some comfort like it has me.

Bonjour dear world, bonjour dear land, my friends,

Reading you is bringing gentle healing to my heart.
Thank you.
It is very conforting to see that you find the song and the way I have expressed myself about Pascal's departure very fitting as I am writing for him and for friendship around those lines. Obviously it will be in French but I am also mixing those very Dylan' lines in their original language so some English will ring in chuch tomorrow. He would have liked it as he so deeply loved music and also spoke english very well. xxx
