Ok, stemming from the 'ketchup'posts, here's a forum for us to voice what we would miss from home if we moved away....
My list can go on and on but my number one is this...
In Edinburgh, there used to be a chinese takeaway called 'The Fortune Court', they did the BEST beef curry, i can't get anything close to it here.........
Wonder if it's still there? |

My food choices are pretty basic...stuff you can get just about anywhere. I think it would be things like peanut butter
and
I don't like mustard on lunch meat sandwiches, and mayonnaise is nasty. I don't think there is an acceptable substitute out there for Miracle Whip. |

Kayte, you'll be glad to hear that you can buy Miracle Whip in Germany, AND peanut butter, too. American brands and everything ;D So no excuses, Magnum bars are waiting for you! ;D
When I worked in Spain last year, I REALLY really missed these:
real Brezen (calling them "pretzels" is just soooo wrong) and "Leberkäs" (I don't think there's a good translation for that, it sounds gross once you try and say what it actually IS *lol*). Mhmmm...
I also missed Ritter Sport chocolate.
Oooooh and I ALMOST FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!
BREAD!
REAL BREAD!!!!!!! I'm sorry, but NOTHING is better than (South) German bread!

Thanks Lilly, that's good to know!
I think everyone would miss their own bread. I'd miss gooshy squishy American white bread for sandwiches. Sandwiches are one of my major food groups. Like Joey. |

Some German supermarkets sell a special sandwich bread called "American Sandwich" bread now ;) |

Oh I looooooooove Ritter Sport! Yummy! I think I would miss Mexican food. Yes, I live in the US and not Mexico, but we have awesome authentic restaurants all over the place here. Yum! Of course if I were to move to Mexico, this would not be a problem. |

From experience, I'd miss full rye bread (sorry, Lilly, the German version wasn't quite right), water pressure in the shower and proper central heating (I've been to places where they're rubbish) and salty liquorice, to begin with.
I'm with Lilly about Brezen, they're the best, and I miss them from Munich. |
