I love the movie, but I have not seen the musical. I'm not sure if I would like to see this one as a musical though. I'm not a fan of modern musicals though, so I may be biased. |

I like the movie a lot, too, but I'm not sure about a musical.
I did see Sweeney Todd recently and I liked it! The profuse amounts of blood balanced the singing. It wasn't a "sweet" musical. And I quite liked how HBC whacked cockroaches with her rolling pin while singing The Worst Pies in London.
I think Tim Burton is in a rut, though. Same actors over and over, same scenery and props over and over. I'm pretty sure Sweeney Todd's barber shop was Edward Scissorhand's attic with the roof repaired and the fireplace gone. |

I haven't seen the musical but... Yeah, the movie is one of my favourite.
I think Tim Burton is just a genius and Johnny Depp is such a great actor.
And well, the music in the movie is amazing.
That's one of my favourite scenes, but my absolutely favourite scene is when he goes back to the house and the girl ask him to hug her and he tells her that he can't.
God... I'm such a girl but I cry every single time with that scene.

That and Ed Wood are by far and away the best things Tim Burton ever did. |

Ed Wood is hilarious! We actually made ourselves a double feature recently, Ed Wood and then Plan 9 From Outer Space! |

Matthew Bourne directed it. The dancer who plays Edward is Matthew Malthouse . The set pieces suit the atmosphere of Tim Burton: gothic, melancholic ...It was splendid. All dancers were excptional! They are very precise and expressive. In this comedy, there is no songs. Everything based on the musics of the film.
Actions have a huge visual and rhythmic capacities like in a animated cartoon.
I was very impressed by the quality of this show. It was awesome! :-)
The show lasted Two hours but for me it's not enough. I wanted more AH AH.

I had this memory in my head of liking Edward Scissorhands way more than i actually did end up liking it when i went back and watched it recently after years and years. I still like it, just not as much as i thought i did. But Johnny Depp can do no wrong.
I thought Sweeny Todd was great! Ive seen a theatrical performance of it too. I dont think my friends that went to the movie with me knew what they were getting into. Half way through my friend turned to me and said "i dont get it. Are they ghosts?"
no dear, they are not. |
