So I read this article about celebrities and their wedding songs.

I see a lot of Journey.

Maybe I'm too much of an indie rat, but a lot of these songs seem so unappealing to me. So I ask, what would you play at your wedding? And for those boardies who are already hitched, what did you play at your wedding

Such Great Heights- Iron & Wine/ OR OR The Postal Service
Challengers - The New Pornographers
Crown of Love - Arcade Fire
Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I'm the Man Who Loves You - Wilco
Yellow - Coldplay
Northern Sky - Nick Drake
Pressure Suit - Aqualung
Do You Realize?? - The Flaming Lips
All Is Full of Love - Bjork
Transatlanticism - Death Cab for Cutie
The First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes

... just to name a few

Nothing wrong with Journey! I know in general our music was much less cheesy than the standard wedding fare. I also know I made it VERY clear to the DJ that he would not get paid if he played even a single country song. I know some guests were a little annoyed but it wasn't their wedding.

Our first song was Kissing You

We did a waltz. We took ballroom dance for a few months before. Certain spots of the song were even cheographed.

Good question! Lots of fun, danceable stuff. I have this all in my head...I'll get back to you with an actual list, but I'd play some Travis for sure...probably Selfish Jean, The Connection, Flowers In The Window and The Beatles for sure...fun stuff like Twist and Shout! :)

Yeah I like that soundtrack. I think the lyrics to that song are incredibly romantic. It worked.

Harry Hill (Uk stand up comic) walked down the aisle to the theme from the tv show "The generation game" because it's lyrics went:

Life, it's the name of the game and I wanna play the game with you.

Awesome.

I'd have Here, There & Everywhere by the Beatles.

Im not the kind of girl who had my dress and flowers picked out when i was 5, or dreamed of my wedding day, but I do know that I want Taking You Home by Don Henley to be my wedding song. Ya, not indie and kinda cheesy, but i love it.
Ive also always thought that Flowers in the Window would be great, or the Luckiest by Ben Folds, except it has a few parts that are supposed to be sweet, but are slightly creepy. And, Question by...the Old 97s (?) but its more about the proposal than marriage, so maybe for an engagement party! And i love I'll Stand By You by the Pretenders. Also, not indie and totally cheesy.
From your list i love Such Great Heights, Yellow, First Day of My Life.

And I agree with Nikki. Twist and Shout for sure!

I walked down the aisle to Greensleeves. Since we had the Renaissance style wedding, the music was all in keeping with the theme.

My friend was at a wedding where they walked up the aisle to the Hobbit theme from Lord of the Rings. And back down to the song from the end of Star Wars, a New Hope, when they get the medals in the throne room. Awesome

I've been to several weddings where the processional was to Star Wars.

My favorite is what one of my friends who is a huge prankster did. He is a musician and another friend had asked him to play in the wedding. As a "surprise" he and another guy played "Feel Like Making Love" by Damn Yankees as the processional. But they were on acoustics and they played it so pretty that only those really tuned in picked up on it.

I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon in D. We had a brass quintet for the ceremony.
