I never knew what that "o" meant until I finally asked an English friend about it some time ago. She also told me that "xxx" or "xx" are meant as "friendly" kisses. I don't write that kind of thing, though, it's too "cutesy" ;D |

Hanne wrote: I would also say x=kiss and o=hug. However, I often write xxx after my name since I see the 'kiss' as a friendly kiss on the cheek - or am I wrong?
I also see the x as a friendly kiss on the cheek, no matter how many times it's written :oP. |

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
I am in complete agreement with Kristy and I have had this arguement/discussion several times! I believe X should be the hug - that's the way I read it (and Im a huggy person, ask Ric). O is totally the shape of the puckered up lips!
That's my interpretation.
And I'm sticking with it. *humph*
Also, I always sign off with xxx (yes lils I am cutesy - LOL). Maybe one x but if I know ya really well and am feeling the love you get xxx. haha
Ohhhhhh someone mention Gossip Girl - my guilty pleasure! ha |

wikipedia is not conclusive on this either:

Hugs and kisses, is a term for a sequence of the letters X and O, e.g. XOXO, typically to express affection or good friendship at the end of a written letter, email or SMS text message, in which, according to most sources, "o" means hugs and "x" means kisses, representing shapes of two people's bodies as viewed from above. However, some believe that the symbols "o" and "x" are reversed, with "x" for hugs, representing the arms, and "o" for the circular shape of the lips, although this interpretation is seemingly less popular.
for my tuppence worth an x is a kiss |

Well, since I started the thread and asked the question, the safe bet would be to say that I do. |

i knew the x 's were kisses but didn't know the o's , i thought that meant take a breath , so a series of x and o's was like a make out session .

Lol! I realized the x's were kisses before I knew what the o's were all about :P I remember I asked an English language teacher and she told me that the "x" stands for a kiss and the "o" for a hug :) I took her word for it! |

It was a statement rather than a question, hence an exclamation rather than a question mark.

Well considering I got laid off and my health is in decline.
Christmas can go and fuck itself most years but this year...
Christmas can go bugger itself with an epileptic hedgehog
