I wish the German flag was as pretty as the Canadian one... or the Union Jack... or the Australian one... they're all pretty... but 3 stripes, blah, boring.
NZ flag is way prettier than the Australian one... though something like 70% of Australians polled once couldn't tell the difference between our flags... hahaha... those crazy ockers.
Yeah... if only the German flag had more happy colours or something...
yes, NZ's flag is pretty, it's got more "style" than the Australian one ;) ... although when I think about it... both seem a liiiiittle over the top, there's almost too much going on on the flags ;)
Yes, exactly, happy colours! I'd like light-blue, grass-green and gold or someting like that. with a nice drawing *lol*
unfortunately, the somber colours go back to the 19th century - the war against Napoleon and the "birth" of a united Germany ("from the black darkness of servitude through the red blood of the war to the golden light of liberty --> black, red, gold)...
Haha yes! More style! Less stars, of a different colour! a slightly different colour blue! I quite like how NZ and Aus have virtually identical flags.
Haha it's not too busy! They just took the British naval flag, and stuck the southern cross on it! Bob's your uncle. Though it is a b*tch to draw when you're little.
Ohhhh is that it? That's pretty cool, too bad war isn't associated with grass-green... oh well. |

I was thinking about that yesterday while reading this post. Some flags are so difficult to draw if you're a kid, like those that have symbols on them. I would never get it right. |

Hahaha, that is very true!
In my first year of university I lived in a residence with a lot of international students. For our end of the year party we decorated the lounge to look like an airport and each gate was for a different country that people were going back to, and some of the flags were ridiculous! I think we accidently offended people with our flag painting skills. |

I thought it's based on a legend that someone saw a eagle eating a snake on the site where La Capital was founded . |

As far as the Turks I know goes, they don't hate Canada. Who did these BBC people talk to? And I love Canada, I think...I have never been there but I want to:) But if we are talking about one particular Canadian, Celine Dion?...I do not want to offend Swiss friends but I always feel like she is Swiss. I need to remind myself that she is Canadian--damn Eurovision song contest! |
