Well, i hope people here are watching snooker and yeah, talk about this wonderful game.

So lets start with the simple question:

Who is your favorite snooker player???

Clearly Mark Williams.

But also Mark Selby, Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins as well.

Selby was unlucky on Sunday night, both players were making really stupid mistakes and both getting away with it. However when O'Sullivan went two down into the break he pulled himself together and came out firing on all cylinders, Selby had no chance but that's what happens when you don't kill a game off when you have the chance.

Stephen Hendry is probably the greatest player ever and also responsible for the quick pace and youthful players of today's game.

O'Sullivan has the potential to be just as good (or even better) but he doesn't have the mindset. He needs to sort his head out to get better and I think it's already to late, that said he has always said he won't let snooker be the only thing in his life.

Mark Selby. Fellow Leicester fan. :) Could have won on Sunday but he just lost it at the end.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies so far, yes Selby could have won his second Masters tournament, but as you already said, he didn't grabbed the chances (which were quite a lot) to do this.
In addition, he was quite unlucky on the first frames... Maybe its just a lack of experience... Anyways, I think Ronnie took a very fair win and now leads the championship by far...
Does anyone know what is the current provisional ranking of Ken Doherty???

I actually asked for the provisional rankings but thank you for searching anyways.
Just informing, Ken Doherty is currently the number 36 of the 08-09 championship.

Its interesting that John Higgins has almost the same points as O'Sullivan has only in the new season, which actually means that snooker is becoming exciting again after a 2 year "Rocket Domination"!!!

A quick update for the snooker fans out there, the China Open qualifiers:

Final qualifying round results (qualifiers in bold):
Dave Harold 5-4 Jimmy Michie
Ken Doherty 0-5 Judd Trump
Michael Judge 4-5 Ricky Walden
Nigel Bond 5-1 Jamie Burnett
Steve Davis 2-5 Stuart Pettman
Matthew Stevens 4-5 Rod Lawler
Stephen Lee 5-3 Jin Long
Stuart Bingham 2-5 John Parrott
Dominic Dale 1-5 Gerard Greene
Mark Williams 5-4 James McBain (yay!!!)
Jamie Cope 5-3 Mike Dunn
Anthony Hamilton 5-1 Patrick Wallace
Barry Hawkins 0-5 David Gray
Ian McCulloch 3-5 Michael Holt
Fergal O'Brien 5-4 Andrew Higginson

What's your opinion about Ricky Walden???
I think he is one of 2009 highlights, looks pretty talented and he is in good form to make it in the Top 16 next year.

I saw one of Mark Selby's first professional matches a few years ago at a qualifying tournament, he looked very good then but obviously we had no idea he'd be this good. He gave away too many frames in the Masters final to win, but a spirited effort nevertheless.

Favourite player: has to be Ronnie I guess, when he's on it he's so much better than anyone else in the world it's ridiculous. Also like John Higgins, Hendry and am hoping Judd Trump comes good soon. I always liked Paul Hunter, his death was a tragic loss.

Welsh Open in a couple of weeks, I'll be there! :D

Semi Finals of The World Championship at The Crucible

John Higgins 10-2 Mark Allen

The Wizzard of Wishaw seems to be running away with it after two tough fought earlier rounds against Mark Selby (13-12) and Jamie Cope (13-12).

Shaun Murphy 4-4 Neil Robertson Deadlocked.

Murphy beat Hendry (13-11) in the previous round, which was seriously good going as Hendry has seen a return to form in this years World Championship, I would have liked to see him go all the way but I'm happy he got a 147 for himself.

*edit* I've just been reading more about Ronnie O'Sullivan, he really wants to get a fucking grip of himself, He's undenialably probably thee number one raw talent ever seen, Yet he continues to disrespect his opponents and the game in genral, In the past he's walked out, hit a referee and basically humiliated his opponents. Ronnie son, it's not boxing this is snooker and while I will admit to your antics being entertaining you yourself come across as a complete tosser. You could be twice the player you are (which is really something considering how good you are) if you sorted yourself out. I know in the past he has suffered from depression but should we really stand by and watch him self destruct and ruin himself just becasue it's "entertaining" ???

Agreed, it's really more of a game than a sport.

If your local has a snooker table, I want your pub!

I'd like to see John Higgins win again, I don't really like Shaun 'Smug' Murphy. Ditto about being pleased for Hendry.
