Somewhere in the States there is a festival where all the food is on a stick. Including crazy things like spaghetti and meatballs. there is a vid on youtube about it if someone wants to find it. They show the hundreds of food on a stick choices. |

Ah, I remember my first deep fried pizza. What a culinary delight. I can still remember that feeling of shock as they took it out the packaging and threw it straight into the frier. Mental. And worse still I went back for more. And even worse than that, they tend to want to put loads of salt on it. As if it's a challenge to make it more unhealthy.
When Scotland play Italy at football the usual Terrace chant is "Deep Fry your Pizza! We're Going to Deep Fry Your Pizza! Deep Fry Your Pizzaa!" |

I don't doubt there is a deep fried festival here though I've never heard of it or been to it. But yes, pretty much everything is fried at the state fair!!
Deep fried pizza. For those who have seen/eaten it, does this look accurate?

I love how it's served in a sauce-filled commemorative tote bag. |

Well, it's just the State Fair of Texas that's in Dallas, which might as well change it's name to the Deep Fried Festival!
I went this year, and they had deep fried Snickers, deep fried Oreos, ice cream...you name it, they probably had it. I could not get myself to try any of it though. The lines for the Snickers and Oreos were so long--Those vendors made a helluva lot of money! |

The iPie IS like an iPod!!
Here are some of the descriptions:
Fried Dinner Roll – A savory dinner roll lusciously filled with cream cheese and covered with a sweet batter, placed on a stick and deep fried to perfection.
Fried Apple iPie – A warm, delicious crispy fried apple pie with just a hint of cinnamon, is smothered in rich vanilla ice cream and topped with an edible iPod “like” mp3 player and whipped cream. Real working souvenir “ear-bud” earphones complete this tasty iPie experience!
Crispy Fried Cantaloupe Pie – Diced cantaloupe seasoned with brown sugar, cinnamon and coconut milk, rolled in a flaky pie pastry, and then deep fried. Topped with powdered sugar and whip cream.
