I am not really sure I can compare bands either. It all depends on your taste.
I used to love Coldplay, but I'm a bit bored of them now to be honest. They don't seem to be able to evolve and adapt like Travis can. It's good to hear a new record and think 'wow, I wasn't expecting that'!!! |

I agree with every word you said... I love Coldplay and they're my other favourite band, but it would make no sense to say one band is better than the other, especially since they have gone in totally different musical directions on their latest albums. I just listen to the music I like, I don't make comparisons. |

I don't like Coldplay at all. And I never did.
And I love Travis. For the last 7 years they are the best for me. Though my music collection has hundreds of other bands I like and listen to. But for me there's no better then Travis. For many reasons. I like their music, their lyrics, their videos... I like THEM you know)
Maybe I just can't be objective. But for me almost every song is so familiar, so comprehensible, so warm, so open, so mine or I don't know... Like it was writen for me or about me or by me. I just don't know how to explain..) Travis are special, everything they do is special. Fran is so sincere writing songs that it seems that somehow we know him and he knows us.
Maybe there are better bands. But not for me. Or I just don't know them..) |

in which way?? I mean, it is very difficult to compare different bands. There are very good bands, they're no better or worse, just different and just good in what they do. |

| At last night's gig, it was amazing how much momentum Travis had - awesome new songs interspersed with so many classics. There aren't many bands with that good a back catalogue and great new songs too :D |

They're a more successful, richer, more famous band who write far, far worse songs. I kinda think Travis are the 'thinking man's Coldplay' these days. Far better. Fran is twice the songwriter Chris Martin will ever be.
With Ode, Travis have jumped right back to the top of my list. Ash are the only band I'd ever have considered 'better' to my ears, but they're no more.
Completely agree... I like Coldplay, however... the writing by Fran does deserve so much more than Chris Martin. Travis win hands down without a doubt. I love watching the humour of Travis videos too which I am pretty sure will all have been thought up by the band themselves not by outsiders. Keep up the good work Travis you guys are amazing and so deserve the recognition. Xx |
