Thought id start a thread for us all to say what we do, if we enjoy it, and is there anything everyone should know about that particular industry and doesnt.
Example;
I work for Direct Line car insurance as a customer service advisor, its ok, pays the bills but as its a call centre it gets a tad repetative.
One thing you should know about my industry is;
Never accept your car insurance renewal price its always inflated, get a quote online as a new customer, I %100 guarantee you it is cheaper every time.
I also welcome any uk car insurance questions, ill try my best for you all.
So.Go. Spill the beans all.....!

I'm a stay at home mom. I wipe bottoms. I wipe noses. I wipe tables. I wipe sticky floors. I drive kids to school. I pick them up. I make lots of sandwiches. Sometimes I cook. I give practice spelling tests. I drill basic addition facts. I sing the alphabet song. I attempt to potty train those who do not want to be potty trained. I make sure everyone's clothes are clean and fit properly. I bathe the dirty. I brush snarly hair. I make sure everyone has brushed his or her teeth at least twice a day. I read bedtime stories. I make sure no one watches programming unsuitable for his or her age level. Stuff like that. |

I work in the development department of a playhouse. Help get people and companies with money to donate to the arts in return for various delightful sponsorship opportunites.And also helping to impress those important people by planning events such as our opening night VIP reception, etc. Soon my job may also include some aspects to do with our Performing Arts Program (aka acting school).
Hmm, something you should know...sometimes the action behind the scenes is funnier and more dramatic than that on stage. Also (and i think this applies to a lot of areas) no one writes what there name is attached to. Thank you letters signed by bosses, Chair of the board's greeting in the program, etc...all writen by lowly people on the food chain like me. |

I'm a graphic designer and illustrator. I design cool stuff like logos, posters, cd's, books, brochures, ads...all kinds of stuff like that. I heart my job. It's a lot of fun! I freelance...so I get to work from home. I'm also a mom too.
As for dirty little secrets...hmmmm I can't think of any right now. It's pretty much straightforward...what you see is what you get. |

I'm a student currently on summer hols. I get up at about midday, stare at a computer/TV screen all day, eat chocolate and go to bed. And every now and then I daydream about how I should be starting to plan my dissertation...
I also do a few hours charity work at Barnardos on Tuesdays and Thursdays. |

Hey, that's my line! Well, nearly. I work sometimes in companies, if they have staff shortages, but prefer my home comforts. I'm also keen on type, or a typomaniac, as Erik S. would say. My kids are so big now, that they can make their own sandwiches, but I do remind them of the toothbrushing.
My job is mainly fun, but big catalogues can get a bit tedious, fancy making 200 barcodes, anyone?
An Adobe presenter once adviced in a seminar to learn to use the applications well, and charge also for the saved timeā¦ |

You forgot about shopping, reading glossy magazines and getting drunk from time to time. And then I'd agree completely. |
