I was wondering why chickens had wings if they can't fly?
But then it dawned on me it is because they taste so yummy! Mmm. :P |

And we have tailbones, which we don't need. But I really don't wanna taste those, I just accept that they're there lol |

I think I read that chickens, wild chickens, could fly. But people selectively bred them to be heavy for eating. Now domesticated chickens can only fly short distances. I guess that's how the phrase, "Flew the coop" came into being. Some chickens do fly high enough to get over the coop. |

All I know about tailbones is I cracked mine a good one going down a slide when I was younger and it was too painful for words.
On another interesting note for me, I didn't watch American Idol last night, but it was Dolly Parton night and one of the contestants sang my song! Nice! |

Yes tailbones take a long time to heal. If we did not have a tailbone, where would our spine end? Doesn't it protect the spinal cord?
Jolene! Yes, I saw it! I thought it was pretty good. I like Brooke. Ramiele and Kristy need to go bye-bye in my opinion. What do you think of Jason Castro? I think his looks have a lot to do with his success, but he's not bad. If he'd get that rat's nest hair cut off, he'd be a nice looking guy. My favorites are Brooke and David Cook, but David A. is good, too. |

someone I knew used to keep chickens and she used to clip the flight feathers on just one wing so that the chicken wouldn't be able to fly very far - he'd just keep going round in circles! |

Same thing happens if you cut its head off. That's why you have to tie them up before you do it, or throw something over them. At least that's what my "do it yourself" neighbors used to do. They actually brought a chicken home from some place and tied it to their kid's swing set and cut it's head off. Blood was all over the place. We live in the 'burbs people! Not chicken slaughter country! |
