Another way to ruin a song is to listen to the radio and allow them to overplay it so much that you hate it.

Have it featured on a special about not drinking on prom night made by the broadcast team of your school. For real. That happened two years in a row the first time with Snow Patrol's "Run" and then with Coldplay's "Fix You."
