Here is a partial list of things I have learned while being on this message board.
1. A word that is perfectly harmless in your language is slang for male genitalia in another. Eggs, eggs, eggs.
2. I can now laugh in English (ha ha) or in Spanish (ja ja), but not in Polish (see #1).
3. Christmas traditions around the world.
4. What "Hogmanay" is.
5. Lots of computery stuff like how to make my profile in pretty colors, how to make links, how to post pictures, how to download music, how to convert videos to MP3's.
6. Argentinians are friendly and some are very uninhibited.
7. Not all alpacas spit, but all are capable.
8. Pancake Day.
9. What Jaffa Cakes are.
10. What Haarschnitt means (haircut!)
What have you learned?

Apart from the things you mention, I've also learned that not all national stereotypes are true :o)
Example: French people don't speak English. We've got the proof right here that some of them do speak English extremely well... |

More importantly, we lost the Stroh's ice cream plant a year ago. We still have Better Made Potato Chips. |
