I just got in from work, had a ten hours shift tonight and really felt crap about leaving my dog home alone all the time but what could I do? Anyway...when I got in I was confused not to hear a happy dog acclaiming "mami" at home *lol*.
Then I found a blackmail letter on the desk:
Warning! I kidnapped your dog!
I demand 200 € ransom or a fine cooked meal (as Spaghetti Bolognese) until tomorrow 1pm at my place!
NO POLICE or I'll feed him to death!

...looks like I have to make Spaghetti Bolognese for lunch tomorrow haha...I knew it would be useful one day to give her my spare keys ;-)

What a great sister! Of course, I would kidnap my sister's dog (if she had one) to get some spaghetti bonognese too! :)

The Forward to Boiling a Frog by Christopher Brookmyre...

Amphibians are poikilothermic: their body temperatures adapt automtically to changes in their enviroment, without their noticing, Theoretically, this means that if you were to put a frog into a pan of cold water, then turn up the heat gradually enough, you could cook the poor creature to death before it realised it was in danger.

NB: The title of this book is a metaphor, not a recipe. The author is in no way advocating or condoning the boiling of frogs. Not if there's a perfectly healthy cat available anyway.
