I've made a £20 bet with my big brother that I can learn every Travis song (not including b-sides) off by heart on guitar and vocals. I'm a little worried but fingers crossed.

Does anyone else think it can be done???

Are we talking lead or rhythm guitar?

Also are you talking about playing them from memory without having to check chords, capos and tuning changes?

Rhythm guitar.

I have time to learn the songs by checking books and capos and chords but in the end I need to know them all off the top of my head.

And how long are we talking about learning wise?

I'd keep your £ 20 in your pocket or just give it to your brother now.

He said as long as it takes but when I'm ready to play for him, I need to get it all right on one go. If I mess up or forget anything just once then I've lost the bet.

So you've got to sit your brother down and play him 4+ hours of music consecutively, 100% error proof, for twenty pounds? Wow...

Best of luck, though.

If he says you are wrong pass him the guitar and tell him to play it then.

He'll soon fire you 20 sheets.

I think you should just keep telling him you're still practicing and take a really long time (like perhaps until you're done with uni) to prepare.

I don't have to play the whole set non-stop. I can take breaks for dinner and things. It doesn't even need to be in the one day. But when I say to him that I'm ready to play it then I absolutely cannot look at chords or lyrics at all anymore.
