As you can see, vile disgusting things to look at. But they taste nice in a stew.
You crack me up. |

It's basically stuffed intestine with a filling made from a combination of meat and meal, often a grain. The Eastern European kind is a blood sausage made with pig's blood and buckwheat or barley, with pig's intestines used as a casing. It's similar to black pudding. I fry it up with bacon and eat it with toast. Mmmmmmm!
Ewww, I hate it. Flaki are far worse though.
It may not look that terrible but basically it's a soup made of intestines. Major EWWWW. |

Did we ever figure out what that Turkish food actually was?
Now, gather 'round, boardies, let's have some MEAT JELLO! (aka Polish dish called Galaerta)...
Pass the vinegar, please! Yum yum. ;) |

:O How can you not like kiszka, Megg? It is wonderful! I've never had flaki. But it does sound gross. My babcia makes soup all the time, but never that kind. Usually some sort of red or white barszcz or chicken noodle with barley or this sour soup that's creamy and tastes like it has pickles in it. Mmmm. |

Mussels - looks disgusting and IMHO tastes disgusting!
I guess Irish Stew does not look the most appetising meal in the world but it is delicious on a cold winter night.
But I really can't think of anything typically IRISH that looks gross and tastes gross.
My work colleague told me how her family used to eat Pig's Feet!!! I kid you not. And how they sometimes had to shave the hair off before boiling them :-/ I am not posting a photo - just go to google images. |
