We sometimes buy those little boxes of Sun-Maid raisins for the kids. I took a good look at the box today and noticed on the inside flap it says:

"Ups and downs are part of all relationships."

What the heck??? Is this some sort of raisin box fortune or something? Makes me wonder if every box in the pack says the same thing or do they say different things. Does anyone else think this is weird? Why do I need this on my raisin box? How long has this been going on? I just want to eat my raisins in peace.

Fortune Cookie Raisins ??

We used to get really bad jokes on Ice Lolly sticks in the UK the punchine would only be visible once you had finished. You also get sayings in English and Irish on sachets of Sugar in Ireland.

I just thought that was kind of a depressing sentiment to be printing on something that is mainly consumed by children. Eat some raisins, look forward to downs in my relationships.

Celestial Seasonings tea has little sayings. Not really fortunes but more sayings.

But yeah, that seems a tad weird for a food that is most often consumed by children.

Some more suggestions:
Your pets will all die
No one likes their job all the time
Christmas becomes more and more depressing over time

Sorry, Life does not get any better
Your old pet didn't go to live on a farm it's dead, dad buried it the garden
Santa Doesn't exist, it's your parents
Same goes for the Tooth Fairy
Magic isn't real

Those are all great, Anne & Dubz, and very timely, since Rachel is now in the process of developing a fast-food "Sad Meal" which is the antithesis of the Happy Meal. It says things like, "We turn your smile upside down," and "Have it our way," and come with prizes such as a small bag of termites, a picker weed, or a mouse trap. I should also mention that the sad meal comes with wilted vegetables and black coffee.

We bought more raisins. Yesterday's saying was, "Study those you admire." Much more appropriate for children.

Today was "Work hard. Play fair. Sleep well."

It doesn't say anything like that on my sun-maid raisins! Then again, I think that bag of raisins has been in our cupboard for over a year now...maybe it's a new thing...

I agree- that is scary/creepy. And has inspired a new saying for them:

Kids, the inside of your body is creepy.
