well it's black eyed Friday in Dumfries, the last Friday before Christmas, and it's now making the National news.
Party goers have been asked to show restraint on one of the busiest nights of the year for emergency services.Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary has made the appeal in advance of what it called "Black Eyed Friday".Ch Insp Alan Glendinning said people consuming excessive alcohol often ended up getting involved in fights, assaults or other anti-social behaviour.He said police did not want to "spoil anyone's fun" but urged the public to take responsibility for their actions.Last year nearly 450 people were put in police cells at some stage over the Christmas period.
Mr Glendinning said they were keen to avoid a repeat of that figure this year.
Recognise dangers
He said police would be out in force to "offer reassurance" to those out to enjoy themselves but "deal firmly" with any trouble.

| AH yeah, it's similarly 'mad' friday up in Aberdeen. I went out for a couple of beers. Knew it was time to go home when a guy came along and danced on our table and started slapping my friends sitting at the table. |
