are brown sauce and steak sauce the same thing?
we have "Braune Sauce" (= "brown sauce" in German) here, and it's often called "Bratensauce", which basically means steak sauce. So they're the same where I come from. Which doesn't necessarily mean it's the same as your brown sauce or Kristy's steak sauce. And you cannot buy it in bottles here.
This is getting confusing. AGAIN. |

Haha this is such a funny conversation!
As a scottish lass living in Toronto Canada, i grew up calling it red sauce too. And brown sauce is one if the things i miss! I can get HP here but only rarely can i find "Daddies" brand, which in Edinburgh, is used to create 'chippy sauce'! I always remember th east coast/ west coast chipshop question-------salt and sauce? in Edinburgh, salt and vinegar? in Glasgow!!!!!
This was a great question Kristy! |

Oh yeh, don't forget about the pickled eggs with chips too!
And how do I put a picture on here, we may need to provide proof of this one!
I have such a craving for the chippy now!
We should start another topic called "what we miss from back home' |
