Andrew monkey just informed me that he doesnt call it ketchup, but "tomato sauce."
WHAT?
Is he crazy (yes)? Is this a local thing? Scotland? UK?

We call it ketchup here. Which brings me to a question....why in some places is it called catsup?
I've said it once and I'll say it again...If you want all kinds of yumminess, take some ketchup, add some mayo and you've got some awesome fry sauce. I dare you.

I cant say i have ever heard anyone in Scotland refer to it as Ketchup.
In fact as Moray points out the choice is usually given as red or brown. |

It comes out in two colours, like two-coloured toothpaste.
every time I see someone eating ketchup AND mayo, I think "well this LOOKS nice", but then I remember the taste and go for ketchup only ;-) |

Also, i forgot i started this thread so I was amused when I got on the board this morning. My strangeness should no longer surpise me.

We call it ketchup in Argentina, but pronounce it differently.
And what Mer calls fry sauce is called salsa golf = golf sauce here. I don't know why. |

My dad called it catsup. I have no idea why.
Brown sauce looks like Heinz A-1 sauce.
