Except in the US (awkward buggers have it on 10th May).
I'm sure the US are not the only exception because in France it's actually on the last sunday of May (1st sunday of June if Pentecost occurs this sunday) and I'm quite sure it's the 2nd sunday of May in Germany... So there are many dates! And "why?" would be an interesting question...
Anyway, happy Mother's Day to the British mums! ;) |

I just bought my mum The Full Monty. Is that inappropriate? We both love Robert Carlyle you see. And it was cheap, which is handy cos it's her birthday in two weeks. My dad's birthday is always the same week as Father's Day as well. Don't know if that makes it easier or not, I'm never sure if I should get two presents or one. |

Something totally hit me about mothers day on Saturday when I was at work. the bar I work in is mostly full of older men, some married, some widowed etc. Anyway, this old guy goes "Aye its mother's day tomorrow ... " and a few of them looked round and went "Aye it is indeed ..." and looked kinda sad. And it totally hit me ... whereas I sent a card and present home to my mum cos I couldn't manage home, they were all going to the cemetry the next morning. Its just weird what you think about as you get older. Like Christmas, I'm still in with the family routine of going home to the parentals and someday ... that won't happen anymore. Weird.
Anyway, hope everyone's mothers days' went good. |
