MTV have a promo on at the moment to encourage people to vote for the greatest album of the "MTV Generation", something to do with voting on their website etc.

What's the fucking bets it'll turn out to be Justin fuckface Timberlake or Christina knobjockey Agguilllerrraaa.

And what do they mean by MTV generation anyway, the crap they used to play back in the day like Dire Straight's Money for Nothing or when they actually used to play decent stuff like Run DMC/Public Enemy/Beastie Boys, or the MTV Generation that watches fuck all but The cunting Hills, My Super Shitey Sweet Sixteen, Newlywanks and Hogan Knows Fuck All ???

Yeah what does MTV Generation even mean?

You could be right but if MTV Generation means people who were kids/teenagers when MTV came on the air then it'll probably be Michael Jackson "Thriller."

To which I say: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

FYI Hogan knows whatever is on VH1. Same difference.

What about we start our own, best debut album thread?

I'd have:

Definately Maybe - Oasis
The Fratellis - The Fratellis
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys
We Started Nothing - The Ting Tings

I'm sure there's more out there!

Licensed to Ill - Beastie Boys

Blue Lines - Massive Attack

I hate Jacko, I never seen the "draw" to his music, don't get me wrong when it was the Jackson 5 and the earlier soul stuff then it was ok I suppose... but I can't stand Thriller, that said it must be one of the most successful(in terms of sales, awards, etc) albums of it's era, it was extremely cleverly marketed at the time.

btw, It's on MTV in Ireland (same as Run's House and that sh!t with Flavor Flav) anyway MTV own VH1 and most of the other channels these days anyway so suppose they can throw their programs on whatever channel they see fit that way there's no getting away from it, Bastards.

Since no one will vote for it but tons of late 80's and 90's band copped it

or

without this a bunch of other bands couldn't have copped stuff from too

Again not a huge fan but that's probably a very good call.

I did buy it to see what all the fuss was about and there are a couple of really good tracks on it but (if you believe certain reviews) greatest album ever ? I prefer The Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain & Husker Du but again that just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either to be honest. Its good but not great. I never really got into the whole early 90's grunge thing. Not a big fan of Nirvana / Pearl Jam / Pixies etc.

When MTV was good, we didn't have cable TV. I missed the whole thing.
