Sorry for wasting your time, but I found this funny because most of these statements are actually true:

50 Facts About Swedes

Favourites:

1. We rummage through our plastic bag collection to see which ones we can keep to take to the shop and which ones can be sacrificed for rubbish.

3. The reason we take the ferry to Finland is:
a: duty free vodka
b: duty free beer
c: to party hearty...no need to get off the boat in Helsinki, just turn around and do it again on the way back to Sweden.

5. We pass a supermarket and think "Wow, it is open, I had better go in an buy something!"

8. Hugging is reserved for sexual foreplay.

9. We dont look at sports pants as casual wear, but recognise them as semi-formal wear.

10. Almost everyone is atheist and we know that "religious holiday" means "let's get pissed."

12. Having to book seat numbers at a cinema makes perfect sense. And we sit in our booked seat even if there are only 2 other people there and our seat is in the front row, on the side.

13. We get extremely annoyed when the bus is two minutes late.

14. When a stranger asks us a question in the streets, we think it's normal to just keep walking, saying nothing.

27. We think nothing of spending all day at IKEA looking for a piece of furniture and then spending the whole next day putting it together.

32. We dont think twice about calling someone in the next room using your mobile phone.

49. When a stranger on the street smiles at us, we assume:
a: he is drunk
b: he is insane
c: he's a pervert

Done ;)

Haha, and we danes like to think that we are very different from the Swedish... Wrong! Most of that would (unfortunately) also be true here.

Oh my, and I thought Swedes were different to Finns.

Well, I don't agree with the plastic bag collection. Oh, wait, a friend of mine used to have a collection of record shop bags, and whenever I borrowed a vinyl from him he rummaged through his collection for a suitable one and insisted I bring it backā€¦ so maybe there's some truth after all.

As for hugging, there are people who always insist on hugging you, so there we differ (a bit).

Do you get stared at in public transport if you have obviously bottles in your bag at daytime on monday or tuesday? It used to be worse, as one's not really supposed to buy a bottle of alcohol unless it's for immediate consumption. Now beer is readily available everywhere, it comes in cans (quieter) and wine can be bought in boxes (even more quiet). Vodka still comes in noisy glass bottles.

Haha yes, I always feel embarrassed when I've bought alcohol or when the hangover steps in and I ave to go to the pharmacy, feels like everyone is staring at ME! :O

And about the hugging, it's okey to hug us, lol!
Actually I don't know about the truth-factor in that statement, I'm a very cuddly person! I just thought it was a bit funny written.
I think most of these statements can be used to describe people of other countries as well, as they're part of the human nature.

The thing people usually complain about when they visit Sweden though is that they think we're very rude because when we bump into someonewe, we just say "oooops" instead of "excuse me" or "sorry". I guess we have a different vocabulary!

You Swedes need more hugging in your life!
What about kisses?
Here the normal behaviour is to give people you know a kiss on the cheek when you meet and when you leave. Unless it's a more formal situation, then you shake hands.
I kiss (on the cheek) everyone I know when I arrive somewhere and when I leave.
