I was trying to find the original Top Gear theme tune the other day and it got me thinking what about other TV programs...

Top Gear is Jessica by The Allman Brothers

The Cricket on BBC is Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MGs

Formula 1 on BBC was The Chain by Fleetwood Mac (about 3:10 in)

House is Teardrop by Massive Attack

Father Ted is Songs of Love by The Divine Comedy

Malcolm in the Middle is You're not the Boss of Me by They Might be Giants (who can forget Birdhouse in your Soul)

If anyone else can think of any I'd be glad to hear them only rule is that they should not be written specifically for the program.

BBC Snooker

'Drag Racer', The guitar-based theme for BBC's snooker coverage was written and performed by the little-known Doug Wood Band in 1982. In 2002 the theme was given a 'big-beat' style remix, which was aired by Radio One's Chris Moyles.

Lol, that's the first one I looked up on that website. I've got it downloaded on my computer now :) Thanks for the info, I never knew that despite having heard it (probably literally) thousands of times.

If anyone watched the Olympics, here is the theme tune by Damon Albarn. It was written especially for the programme but comes from the Monkey Chinese soundtrack thingy. Another Olympics one, this was played a lot during the coverage.
