I had seen part of this movie last year on PBS and wanted to watch the whole thing. Its really good. I haven't seen the Hitchcock version, but I guess this one is closer to the book. Also, I think Rupert Penry-Jones should be the next James Bond. Just sayin'. |

the theatre I used to work at put this on last season. It's playing in London right now too. |

Oh dear. I have just watched the worst film in the history of ever. It's so bad it's awesome, especially if you're Polish. Here's the deal. I saw the trailer about a year ago when one of my friends posted it on FB, obviously completely forgot about it afterwards. Today I randomly picked out a movie to watch and it was it! It's all kinds of offensive towards Poland, my favourite quote being "they make their own clothes, they make their own food, they mostly grow mushrooms". It's about a catholic/satanic/weirdo cult killing American backpackers (who clearly love going to random Polish villages during the summer break!). Poland looks like middle ages, 19th century and the '40s all at once. Oh, and obviously, we still don't really use guns, we totally prefer arrows and stuff.
But the best (meaning worst) part of the movie is that over half of it is in "Polish". Dialogues are hilarious! Hilarious! No one speaks like that. And you can tell that some of the actors are Polish but the others have no clue so what they say is not even close to being similar to Polish. I laughed so hard I started crying. But you need to be Polish to get how amazingly awful this thing is.
Oh! Best part! Apparently it's a Canadian movie shot in Ontario! I'm looking at you, KLM.
Its rather decent imdb rating freaks me out. Someone actually thought it was good?! Oh boy.

Wow, that movie sounds like it's so bad it has indeed gone round the bend to awesome. Too bad I wouldn't be able to appreciate it.

By the way, I'm going backpacking to a Polish village this summer. Should I be worried? |

| I've been seeing a lot of people walking around the neighborhood with backpacks lately. (People who aren't students.) Now I know they must be going to spend the summer in a Polish village. I wish I knew Polish just so I could enjoy the awfulness of this movie to its fullest. |

Nice film for a Sunday afternoon, quite comical in places but also quite serious too, Casting is outstanding and everysingle actor deserves mention but especially Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney & Jim Broadbent, these guys are fantastic but have never been recognized for their abilities.

My husband, a life long Leeds fan, did not like it, apparently it's not the truth…
Anyways, I quite enjoyed it, anything with Timothy Spall can't be bad
