Who's giving them a listen? I'm really enjoying their album. Very Band of Hroses. I'm enjoying this whole Americana thing that seems to be going on right now.
Looks like they're destined for big things - tickets for their Glasgow gig are changing hands for silly money |

they're great - but I think other Germans haven't realised this - tickets for the Munich gig are still on sale for 16 € ;)

Saw them earlier this year. Very good live. Absolute radio (Virgin Radio as was) is flogging them big time right now. |

I've heard a few of their songs and I like them. Would be great to see them live. Apparently they were just in Austin. Oops.

I really like them. They're from Seattle. I've kind of been on an run with the bands Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, and My Morning Jacket. They all have this kind of ... I don't know what I'm saying. They all kind of sound a like, but not identical. |

I'm not sure how to say it either but I know what you mean. All the words I can think of sound cheesy and/or cliche but there is something very organic about them. The songs are accessible and simple but at the same time done in a way that is so unique that it touches on a deeper level.
I'm probably going to regret posting this immediately as that sounds so lame but maybe together Lauren and I can articulate something that doesn't sound so ridiculous. |

Moray,
I know you like Band of Horses a lot, and I know Anne sent you a MMJ song in the mix tape thing. I think you'd really like a lot of MMJ's earlier stuff because if has more of a Band of Horses feel, but more awesome (Why can't we articulate what we want to say???). I would check out Z and It Still Moves from MMJ. Their latest release Evil Urges is more of a progression from their earlier albums so it has a mix of things from R&B to Electronic. |

Hey Moray, you should check out Blitzen Trapper. I think they kind of fit in with Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses. At least, I have a playlist on my iPod that has songs from all 3 and they go together well. Check out the songs Furr and Wild Mountain Nation. :) |

hey Lauren,
I just downloaded like the entire My Morning Jacket back catalogue. I've read anumber of reviews suggesting they're th band that Band of Horses owe a lot to (i've been researching the roots of this music all day today), and Anne's mixtape inspiration sealed the deal, so to speak. I'm in awe of this denre of music. I've also downloaded 'Ben Ivor' because it came recommended on Amazon as one of the 'if you like this....' albums. And some 'Bonnie Prince Billy'. I like to call it epic Americana cinematique musaque. It's also, incidently, everything I think song to self is or should be, in a roundabout way.
FYI Anne also hooked me on Spoon. She has a lot to explain herself for.
Thanks for the nudge in the right direction though Lauren, always appreciated!
(P.S. I'm really drunk right now!) |

I can tell you are errr tipsy.
Ben Ivor? I think you mean Bon Iver. Yeah he's amazing. Actually his name is Justin Vernon. He recorded the album in a cabin in Wisconsin, and it's been in constant rotation on me iTunes for the past weeks. It's actually a year old believe or not. He self released it last year.
Glad you got into MMJ's back albums. I think my personal favorite is Z. Their tour is called, "An Evening with My Morning Jacket." It's just them for 2.5 hours. Awesome! They're going to be in Glasgow next month...

little bit! yes, that name also - Bon Iver. O's and E's mixed up. Downloaded but not given a whirl
You're more up to date on your gigs in glasgow than I am. Shame on me! Just spotted my morning jacket are on at the abc. I'm in glasgow that weekend anyway to see extreme on the saturday night (please oh please don't judge, it's just for a laugh) severely tempted to go down a day early and make it a double header |

Do it! You won't regret it!
Extreme? You mean the, "More Than Words," Extreme? Errrr okay then.
For the record, I hate that song.
I actually won tickets to the MMJ gig I went to. I got to go to the soundcheck before. We were standing at the barrier listening to the soundcheck and Jim James (lead singer/ songwriter) goes, "Anyone have any requests?" And I yelled mine out first and they played it. Afterwards he pointed at me. It was "Thank You Too!" from Evil Urges.
I'd also check out Okkervil River and Neko Case. Neko is affiliated with The New Pornographers too and in 2006 she released a solo album called, "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood."
