The night before the gig I was in the Travis chatroom when someone named Fran came in. There were no 'red' names back then so you never knew whether someone was a fraud or not. There was mixed reaction to the newcomer from "is that really you? i love you!" to "it's not him, it's someone wanting attention". Anyways this Fran said he had just arrived in Vancouver, and being the generous sort that I am I welcomed him to my city. I said I would see him tomorrow at the instore and then he had to go offline. Once he left there was all kinds of talk like was that really him? So I said I would settle it when I went to the instore.
The day of the gig my sister and I arrived three hours early to get in line, we were like the tenth and eleventh people there. We were so excited when we finally got in. I was wondering how I would find out if I had really spoken to Fran the night before. Then Fran and Dougie came out and started their set.
It was great of course, even if it was only four songs. Fran's voice was amazing, and Dougie was so cool. It's a shame Neil and Andy didn't play, but it was worth the wait anyway.
Fran did his usual talking to the audience between songs, he really brings you into the show. I couldn't believe it when he said "I was talking to one of you in the chatroom last night, are you here?" haha. My hands just shot up and I was like "me!!" Then he said "I told you it was me, they didn't believe me".
After the gig everyone had to race back outside to get in line for autographs. So much for getting there early! We ended up not getting to meet the guys, in fact we were four places away from the cut off :( But I wasn't too sad, cos Fran had said a special hello to me :)
