You`re my safe place, guys

Hello guys,

I’ve wanted to write to you for a long time, but I could never find the right words to do it, so I’m just going to say it as it comes.

I was around 20 years old when I discovered your music through my best friend, Felipe. He has always been my anchor, my safe place while difficult things were happening at home, when my family relationships were a mess, or whenever life hit me hard — he was always there for me.

You’ve always been our favorite band, so we were incredibly happy when we found out that you were coming to our country, Chile, for the first time back in 2007. We bought our tickets and went there ready to give it our all, singing every song and enjoying such an amazing show. It was a dream come true.

So much time has passed since then. I’m 45 now, I’m married, and I live in another country. Felipe is still my best friend, even though we’re far apart now, but the connection and affection between us are still exactly the same.

And something else that has remained unchanged is the love I have for your music. Whenever life gets difficult and I need to reconnect with that safe place, I listen to your music and it takes me back to those happier days. Literally, your music has become my safe place — somewhere I can always return to whenever things get hard. It’s incredible how music can work as a form of emotional regulation.

This year, I have to admit that “Why Does It Always Rain On Me?” has become the question I ask myself the most, and I wish the answer were because I lied when I was 17… but I’m sure those sunny days will come soon.

You guys are the best. Your music is pure magic, and I only have words of gratitude for you — for being who you are, for being incredible artists, for staying together and continuing to create music, and for being my safe place in this world.

A big hug, and I hope that one day I’ll get to see you live again — this time in Spain =D
