Are there any plans for the 20th anniversary of the Boy With No Name next year? It might be my favorite TRAVIS record! It would be so cool to see a tour for the album or a reissue with all the B-Sides or unreleased songs 🙂

World tour, please! I’d love that. The first time I ever saw them live was when they toured that album and it was amazing. I’m so up for a second round 20 years later.

Would absolutely love to see them tour 20 yes on with this album again.
I really would like it if they had a show in Brighton again. Such a great album.

There are no plans to do that album live as yet. It’s interesting, because for a long time I couldn’t listen to the record… not that I listen to our records after we finish them. By the time we finish them they have been listened to death. It’s more maybe that it left a foul taste in my mouth. I was whipped hard for more singles and more singles, so much so that I was left feeling the album was never good enough. Afew of years ago I listened to it again and was overwhelmed. It was really good. My Eyes, Closer, Selfish Jean, Big Chair. I HATE Eyes Wide Open…. oh god it’s awful. My favorite part of the recording was double tracking the baseline with timpani drums to get the desired “Lust for Life” feel we were after. That was one of the first covers we played when we rehearsed above The Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow in 1996. I think it was because it was on the Trainspoting soundtrack.

Fran, I had a very similar experience with that album a couple of years ago. I gave it a listen again and felt like I maybe didn’t give it enough of a chance first time round or something because I enjoyed it a lot more than I remember doing.

My Eyes has always been special to me. jenny2 told me she was pregnant with our now fourteen year old twin girls and afterwards I took the dog for a walk, ut my iPod (remember them?) on shuffle and that was the first song that played.

There are some real crackers on TBWNN. You can’t beat Selfish Jean live. Even those who feel sad end up bouncing and smiling 😁

Fran, Its funny to hear you say how much you dislike Eyes Wide Open, because over the years of sharing this album with people, that track is often marked as a least favorite. However, I LOVE that track! Seriously, It is tied with Big Chair as my favorite off the album. I guess you just never know. Even If it its not popular its still loved

This is easily my favourite Travis album, and probably one of my favourite albums of all time. Listened to it on vinyl recently and felt all warm and happy. It’s very loved in my house x

Battleships is a big favourite of mine and I used to sing it to my daughter when she was about 2 years old, it was one of our bedtime songs so will always be special to me. And Closer is just phenomenal… and what a video!

Fran, don’t forget 3 Times and You Lose. What an album opener! This album/tour hold a special place in my heart. My favorite show ever was on this tour: Clutch Cargos, Pontiac MI. The venue is now a church! That night you rocked the roof off the place.

I joined the board in 2005 and we spent the following 2 years looking forward to the next album. I remember the joy when we heard Closer. I remember it feeling like such a long wait (in reality, it really wasn’t). I can’t believe it’s going to be 20 years!!!

Colder is one of my favourite Travis songs of all time, let alone from The Boy With No Name! This sums up how I see the world:

      I’m in love with everything
With every face I’ve ever seen
And every place I’ve ever been
Has left its mark upon my worries
I colour in the world I see
      I pick apart the melody
      ‘Cos maybe there’s a symphony
Caught inside but there’s no way out
