Puzzle Games Anonymous

Since we’re all now cask aged by 20 to 30 years, this felt like a safe & appropriate space to discuss.

I’m into puzzling just now. Specifically, I’m a New York Times app subscriber. I’ve branched out from Wordle into Connections, Strands and the absolutely awesome Spelling Bee.

I’m also doing Glyph – it’s a super cool decoding puzzle. And weaver, weaver x and subtext.

But, since I can only do Monday crosswords on the New York Times, I have space for more – does anyone have any good suggestions for other online puzzles to fill my time?

If this is bad just wait for my Roblox Grow a Garden appreciation thread.

Connections is so fun. Lately I’ve been playing “Countle” which is based off the numbers round from the UK game show “Countdown.” I swear though, sometimes the target numbers they give are impossible to reach lol, I wish they had a “reveal solution” option to show that it’s actually do-able.

Andy Dunlop Does one which has multiple Wordles at the same time. I did Wordle for a while. I got it in one go once. Andy also got it in one another time. A 1/2309 chance. Andy is the person to ask about these sorts of things. I slid off Wordle after a couple of months. My newest one is called WRITE A SONG. It’s bloody tricky.

I also have a subscription to the New Yorker and enjoy their puzzles but what you want to do is to get off the screens completely.

I’ve been a jigsaw puzzler for the past 10 years. It’s much more rewarding doing things in real time and it shuts off all the noise.

You can grab a puzzle board (allows you to stick it behind the couch or under it) for as little as £15. It’s also super important to have puzzles that are relatable to your interests. So I have about five Alice in Wonderland, some Game of Thrones puzzles etc. I was actually gifted a Travis puzzle which I think was related to L.A times but I’ve never done it because the image was way to dull. However you engage with your puzzle hobby I hope you have fun!

Once you get it in one on Wordle you tap out. Every so often I’ll give it a whirl.

Wordle is a great one. I’ve also got it in one try once! My favorite is Connections. If you’re a sports fan, there is a Sports Connections which is tricky but fun!
