Hi Fran, Dougie, Andy and Neil!
I’m new to the message board but not new to Travis! I became a fan of your music in 1999 when I worked at Borders Books & Music in Santa Monica and have been a fan ever since. I now live in Baltimore, Maryland. Last year I drove up to see your gig in Philadelphia. It was sad that the gig was cancelled due to safety concerns regarding a fire. However, it was understandable. I actually went back to my hotel room and had a delicious meal of Cheetos, peanut M&Ms and Chardonnay and watched something good on tv (can’t remember what it was now so I guess it wasn’t that good). I also listened to some of my favourite Travis songs with some Noel Gallagher in the mix too! Anyway, not much of a comparison to seeing the band in concert, but it turned out okay!Regarding the music share, I could think of hundreds of songs and classical pieces, etc. to share with you, but right now I just wanted to share some of my own music with you and hope that’s okay. I respect and love your music so much and I wanted to share with you some of mine. I’m on Spotify. I recorded one “official” album in 2012 called ‘Reflections in My Tea’ and that’s what’s on Spotify (though I’ve written many, many, many other songs!). If you have the time or interest, I hope you will have a listen to some of the songs on my album. I play piano and sing. I listened to some of it yesterday and there are a few songs on there that I probably would have left off. If you do listen, I think some of the better songs on the album are, “The Sweetest Sound”, “Farther Or Closer”, “The Yellow Flower” and “Stories”. If you do listen, that would be wonderful and I’d really appreciate it! If you like some of what you hear that would be even more wonderful! Either way, thank you for all of YOUR music! Elizabeth xx

Ok if we are going to sit around the record player and take turns sharing some of our favourite albums (apart from the obvious), I’ll put out some sleeves…
THE WATERBOYS have such a collection that I played them so much during the lockdown years and it kept my heart somewhere light. Sit back while I put these songs on the player:
– The Big Music
– You in the Sky
– This is the Sea
– Fishermans Blues
– Saints and Angels (the mandolin and fiddle dance so beautifully at the end together, it’s exquisite).Ideally if you music lovers were here I’d rather just play them so your ears and heart can soak up their beauty. I’m going to put the kettle on while I wait… who wants a cuppa?

Hey Elizabeth, Santa Monica has changed a fair bit since 99. I live in Venice. The Philly show was frustrating. We did our soundcheck that day and then the fire department shut us down because of some big fire nearby. We were bummed out too. Cheetos, peanut M&Ms and Chardonnay and music sounds like an appropriate substitute. Are your songs on Apple Music? I’m writing just now so not listening to much music but if I get the chance I will check it out.

Hi Fran! I also have my music on Apple Music, this is the link in case you want to listen to some new music. https://music.apple.com/cl/album/boats-against-the-current/1885859655 (I’m the girl who gave Andy my cd to you in Chile, with a little note inside) Thank you so much, and if you have some comments, please let me know, I would really appreciate it and I’ll be forever grateful.

Hi Fran, Just to wanted to add something to my reply to your reply (apart from the music)… I’m sure Santa Monica has changed a lot since I was last there (moved in 2000 and back to visit in 2005). I’m certain the Promenade must have changed a lot. Borders is long gone, which is sad to me because it’s where I met my ex-husband. We lived in Venice as well – near the corner of Lincoln and Venice Blvd. A lot of apartment buildings there. We could walk to the beach, a long walk but walkable when we were young! We also rode our bikes along the bike path near Marina Del Rey – along the ocean, so beautiful! Many happy memories that are sad now, but I still think about those days. When I first moved there I remember being amazed out how huge the beach was. I’m from Maryland and the beaches along the Atlantic are no where near that size. I also loved looking up many times at the rows of very tall palm trees against a late afternoon, deep blue sky. Driving up the PCH to Big Sur was also stunningly beautiful. Have you ever taken that drive up the coast since moving to L.A.? I can still see it all as I reminisce! I could go on… Back to 2026, I want to congratulate you on Scotland’s great win last night! I’m a big Andy Robertson fan so I was especially happy they won. I’m rooting for them along with the U.S. and Austria (I love Ralf Rangnick and still can’t believe Manchester United let him go). Premiere League wise, I’m a Crystal Palace fan. Anyway, I’m rambling a bit so I’ll wrap it up. Cheers. Elizabeth xx
