I‘m sure many of you have met the band members in person – most often after a show.
Any funny or heartwarming little moments you’d like to share?
No need to write a lot – a sentence or two is totally fine. Just would love to hear some real-life stories.Stories about any of the guys are welcome*/ω\*)

My first one was not after a show. I drove 2 hours from my hometown to the airport (Istanbul) to welcome them. And they were sooooo nice even though we chatted for couple of minutes. Second was after Newcastle show and we were able to chat with all of them and got our records and t-shirts signed and again even though they were tired they stood there with us in the freezing cold 🙂 and Dougie was wearing the scarf I gave him after soundcheck!!!!!! I was ecstatic! Third was in Milan with Andy and Dougie before the show and before they started their rehearsal as I went there quite early:) ahhh and also Nicky as well, they are all so lovely and friendly

Lovely story – thank you! I bet your scarf was great, Dougie would’ve loved it. And I absolutely agree, the boys are so nice. They deserve it. ヾ(≧∇≦*)ヾ -

I’ve met them more times than I can remember. My favourite time however was the wee premiere for the Everything At Once film at the Grosvenor Cinema in Glasgow, and drinking with them, their families and other fans afterwards til the wee small hours.
A selfie of my wife and me from that night is one of my favourite photos of us – and even made it onto the ‘Thank You’ cover of Good Feeling when they reissued it for National Album Day.

Hola peeps… mine isn’t a heartwarming story about the band but a little bit of trivia…
I found out this year that Neil and i share the exact same birthday. I was always chuffed we had same date but this year i realised same year too!
We share with Kurt Cobain & Ian Brown so it’s quite a musical birthday!
Sorry for trivia & look forward to reading all of your stories!

As a teenager Travis were one of my favourite bands and I got to meet them backstage during their The Man Who tour when the played Aberdeen Music Hall. My friend had managed to contact their management to support a charity event where they came to our school during the day, taking time out of their very busy schedules at the time! Anyway I remember all the band being really nice but my teenage illusions of backstage grandeur were shattered that day when it was just really a wee room with a few sandwiches!!

Also remember Travis headlining gig on the green in 2001 in Glasgow. That was a fun weekend but made me laugh at the crowd split. I think Travis were the Sunday headliner and the Saturday had acts like Eminem, Papa Roach and Marilyn Manson playing. Not sure how much of a crossover there is between the fanbase. I remember arriving on Saturday in my Travis t-shirt to a sea of black t-shirts and goth kids!

Wow, just a small room with a few sandwiches – that really says something about how down-to-earth they’ve always been. No rockstar fuss, just genuine kindness. And your story about wearing a Travis T-shirt to a festival full of goth kids and black tees? That really made me smile 😂 Two completely different worlds, yet somehow you were right there in the middle of it all. Thanks for sharing these lovely memories – really enjoyed reading them!

My Mum accosted poor Fran in the airport in 2008. He was so kind to speak to me on the phone. He signed my mum’s boarding pass. I just heard my mum say to him as she walked away “enjoy yer concert, son!”.
I was then lucky enough to meet Fran again during the Glasgow bus stop tour. I stopped at the Barras with my camera and got some of the sweetest photos of Fran meeting a greyhound too.
My dream is to photograph the band in my studio in Bridgeton. I’ve had a few “well Kent faces’ through my door but you are actually my dream. Thanks for everything! -

At the Mercury Lounge gig I gave Fran a doll I crocheted of him. I’m sure the band gets fan art and gifts all the time, but one day my IG notifications started going crazy and I found out the band was featuring “Mini Fran” in loads of stories/reels prior to their South American tour, helping pack suitcases and hiding concert tickets around various cities for fans to find 🙂 Management later reached out and arranged for me to meet them backstage before their next NYC gig so I could give Andy, Dougie, and Neil their dolls and have the “Mini Invisible Band” reunited! I even made Fran a little Huey doll to go along with his 🙂 Everyone was so incredibly sweet and I was really glad that they noticed and appreciated lots of the little details I put into my work. Pictures and videos of the dolls were featured in the band’s 2024 and 2025 year-end wrap-up posts so I’ve just been really, really happy that they loved them so much.

When I was 16 I did work experience at their record label a year or 2 before I started uni. Was just after the first record came out I think so that started my early connection. There was a whole crew of us who met on the original messages boards and one of them, Storme, is still my best friend to this day! We all were lucky enough to be around the bands loads in the early days at TOTP, when they recorded Hit my baby one more time live on Radio 1 & I have a photo of Fran cheering on the tour bus as they found out The Man Who had gone to number 1! Such happy memories from the best bunch. I love that this had made a return. The old lot best find their way back here!!

OMG! I think I’m just a lucky girl because I have seen them a lot of times! My top best warming experiences
1.In Aberdeen after Hogmanay (New year Eve) @Sirius @Saraspain, a Norway girl (I forgot her name) and me gave them funny hats and they use it. All of them were so friendly!! I was homesick and I really had one of the best new years eve ever!
2.Several years ago I met Fran outside a radio station, were just my sis and me, Fran went out and we had a long chatting, I had a hard time and his words helped me a lot that time.
3. The last time in Mexico city I gave them a t shirt I made it (based on LA times art) and they liked it!
Also, I met Clay! 😅-

Hi Erika!Your hats must have been so cute – no wonder they wore them! 🎩
And that Hogmanay in Aberdeen sounds so special – feeling homesick and then being comforted by our lovely band… that’s just beautiful.
I’m also really moved that Fran’s words helped you when you were feeling low. You and the band deserve each other, in the best way.
That LA Times T‑shirt you made sounds super cool – I bet they loved wearing it as much as you loved making it.
And meeting Clay – that’s awesome!
Thanks for sharing these warm moments – they really make this thread shine.

First, I love Travis and have had the pleasure of seeing them perform live a few times. In 2009, I was at the House of Blues show in Anaheim California and was near the stage, about 10 people back. During “Closer”, Fran came into the audience and sang. I could hear his lovely voice as it hit the microphone. Then Fran asked me to dance, so we had a brief slow dance in the middle of the concert and it was so wonderful to be in that moment which was pure joy for me.
Fast forward six months and Fran and Andy did a set at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles, complete with slides and storytelling. As someone else mentioned already, they did a meet and greet with the fans after the show for those who wanted a recording of it. While approaching the front of the line, Fran noticed me and came to speak with me as he recognized me from our dance. When I got the CD of the Largo show weeks later in the mail, he had signed it with “Thanks for the dance” and it was so sweet. So now it is my turn- Thank you Fran, Andy, Dougie, and Neil for wonderful shows and thank you also Fran for the dance and note!

Every time I’ve met the guys after a show has been a pleasure. They are truly the best. I just came here to say that I love shooting the shit with Nick while we wait for the band to come out. He’s a good dude.

When I was 15-17 I worked in the local paper shop on Skye. I was wearing my The Man Who t-shirt and this lady who came in with her husband asked me if I liked Travis as her daughter was dating a guy from the band. She promised to get me an autographed album. I was desperately waiting for her to come back into the shop. Which she did a couple of times and promised it was on the way. Never materialised though 😂 But I was so excited regardless by just feeling that six degrees of separation. That was probably more exciting than if I had got the signature, it was the best summer as my other hero Vic Reeves came into the shop and I literally gawked then shat myself. Best times.

That lady really promised you the world and then ghosted you 😂 but honestly the promise probably made the whole summer

I’ve met them several times after shows, they are always the warmest, friendliest people. Once my sis and I saw them at a show the night before we were heading off to Scotland on holiday. When Fran heard that, he signed my CD liner notes and then went around to Dougie, Andy and Neil so they could write a list on the liner notes, of places we should visit while in Glasgow – we got to every single place, and those liner notes are still one of my prized possessions.

That’s such a great story. I’ve been wondering what was on that list – sounds like they wrote you a wee map of Glasgow. I’m also planning a trip to Scotland in the next couple of years. If you ever feel like sharing it, I’m sure a few of us here would be curious to see it. But no pressure at all if not! 🥹❤️

Mine was more random than anything –
In 2015 I was living in West Ham, London.
I had moved there to try to find a band to join and become some kind of rock star.
When not working my day job I used to get off the tube at random stations and try to walk home just to learn the city.
Sometimes I’d get off in the outer zones, sometimes more centrally. This particular summers day I was knocking about near Baker Street Station, and as it happened, I was wearing my white Born To Rock tee. Remember that one? Such a cool design. Still got it somewhere.
Anywho, I turned a corner just outside madame Tussauds and who do I see? Andy Dunlop, with family. Just strolling down the street peacefully. I think they had been to the museum.
I think he spotted me. But since he was with his fam I didn’t want to approach him.
What a brilliant day that was! Imagine my excitement.

The randomness is the best part. That’s the kind of story only that city can give you😂

I love reading all of these stories! ArtJunkie, you danced with Fran! Whoa! RockNYarn, I love your dolls and followed the journey on socials! Jacklyn C, love a signed boarding pass.
I do have my own heartwarming story. Last year in Denver at the Travis gig, I had seats next to a balcony bar with a heavy hand. After the show, I didn’t realize how inebriated I was (omg), as I was on cloud9, and as we walked around the back, there was Neil, Andy, and Dougie coming out the door! Well, I first recognized Dougie when I had my camera out and got a selfie with him. 🙂 Then I may have blacked out tbh cos that’s the only selfie I got…lol, again that dang bar next to our seats. My husband was more clear-headed and met the other two properly as well, and we got a signed setlist. <3
One fun, heartwarming aspect is that while we stood outside for a while waiting for Fran to emerge (he had his injury), we eventually had to leave to get to our babysitter. We’d stood shooting the shit with other fans for an hour or two, and it was so much fun. Well, one of the guys there actually lived in our same suburb, so he took the 3/4 signed setlist for us, and said he’d get Fran to sign it! We left, and sure enough, this man got our setlist signed by Fran, and we met the next day to get it. It’s now a framed prize possession. 🙂
