I have come to the conclusion that it was pretty overrated. Like, really overrated. It's good if you have ADD but I don't have ADD. They skipped from bloated music production, to bloated music production every five minutes. It was pretty exhausting. |

Agree with you there! Though Jim Sturgess was nice to look at, and Joe Anderson did a good job singing "Hey Jude" :-) |

His hair bothered me. It was a couple of snips shy of being a full blown mullet. |

I liked it!
i didnt think it was the greatest movie ever, but certainly entertaining.
At the end, all i could think was: why doesnt a cute british boy sing Beatles songs to me from a rooftop??
Although i also couldnt stop thinking about how Evan Rachel Woods (Wood?) is dating Marilyn Manson. |

Haven't seen it, probably won't now.
Those things can be a bit hit and miss (mostly miss) anyway. |

my girlfriend loves it i thought it was ok.
It sort of copied loob brothers for the beginning and then turned into Rent. Bit wierd and then it just goes off on one about how good drugs are. Watch iy but Rent is better. |

I must say that I quite liked it.
Ok, the storyline is nothing new, and if you detest every sort of musical you shouldn't even go near the movie, but I still think it's worth watching! They did an amazing job with the visuals, and with basing a story on Beatles-songs as well, in my humble opinion ;) |

Did they ever do a stage version of it? |

Yup. That! ;) I also agree with Anne's opinion in the film thread:

It had its moments but overall I thought it was pretty awful.
They should have stuck to the love story and not made "statements" about the 60s. Those numbers made me literally groan out loud.
And the supporting characters seemed pretty useless and did not contribute much to the plot.
Jim Sturgess is indeed nice to look at (I agree with the hair thing though) but I've seen him recently in 'The Way Back' and boy, it was so much better.
And Kristy, maybe the youtube dude will sing for you :P |

Haha, I'll ask.
I can't believe that in my original assessment of the movie I didn't talk about how much I hate the part with Bono. |
