This is interesting...a sizing data base for women's clothes.
http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/76/what-size-are-youreally
I think a better idea would be for the garment industry to establish sizing guidelines that all companies must follow. Size everything based on measurements, not arbitrary numbers that don't relate to anything. Size 8. Eight what? Give me waist and length measurements like men's pants! Bust and sleeve length! How hard would that be? Easier than a size database that may change every year.

I'm quite small so I'm all for proper measurements. But I am deffo a perfect Topshop 10. It's bra sizes I have a problem with, I personally know exactly what size I am, but in places I can be 2 completely different bra sizes depending on the style. |

I hate the sizing now because like that link explained, every brand is so different. I have to grab a few pairs of everything to try on! It's so annoying! I'm usually a size 8 in pants, but they have to be longs. I'm pretty tall, so if they don't come in long, I'll look like I'm waiting for a flood, lol. |

Ha ha. I'm an 8 short! I can't even wear capri pants because it just looks like I'm wearing floods. |

And the vanity sizing really pisses me off. The more expensive the brand, the smaller the size I am. And, the worst part is, it works on me. Double damn!
*Edit* This is my first post on this side of the board. Hello! |

Those brands think they can trick the public into buying their pants cuz magically they're a smaller size!! lol! Uhhh...I think not. |

I'm usually between a size 10 and 14 (uk sizes, dunno if the American sizes are different). This means that I have to take 2 or 3 items of everything when shopping. Furthermore, I'm rather tall which sometimes makes it difficult to get sleeves that a long enough *sigh* |

I don't understand why they don't do this already if they do it with men's clothes? I mean come on. Do they think we get some kind of pleasure out of standing in fitting room waiting lines only to find out that we need to get a totally different size once we get into the dressing cubicle? I'm all over this!

well considering that we all come in such a variety of shapes, nobody has the same figure, I'm actually amazed how we can fit into these sizes.
I'm a 10 bordering on a 12, depending whether I'm on a diet yet again. Which can be a wee bit a nuisance
Btw why do they have such small numbers in the US ?? to deceive yourself ? lol

because if they started with size 34 as it is in France, large ppl would ended up with size 218 ! |

I heard in the news some weeks ago that a lot of S/M/L sizes have been adjusted. Size M used to be size 38-40, now it's 40-42. The shops say that they do it because it 'reflects reality'. However, if you're usually a size M and you put on some weight, and you're still size M - then you don't have to face the fact that you've gained weight.
Plus, if not all clothes brands have adapted their sizes, buying clothes will get even more confusing. |

That is of course also a way to tackle it. However, I've lost almost 10kg over the last months, so I'll have to get out there at some point *sigh* |
