Inspired by Lauren's pretty prom photos, I thought I'd start a thread about prom. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I'll be a brave soul and share my prom picture...sort of.
If you have a picture, great! I really hope some of the older boardies will post theirs if they can get their hands on a copy. Stories are also good.
Here is mine: I did not want to go to prom. Didn't have a boyfriend, no one asked me, and I was just generally bitter. My parents in some sort of psycho level of concern said if I didn't go they would GROUND ME!!! They were convinced I would regret not going.
So I asked this guy I had gone on a few dates with if he would go with me. He was younger and while I didn't particularly care in terms of going out on dates, it did feel a little sad at prom time. We were going to double date with my best guy friend and his girlfriend.
Well she broke up with him the night before prom because she had discovered she was gay. She still wanted to go to prom (!!) and he went along with it. We talked and both of us wanted to ditch our loser dates and just go together but I felt bad since my date had rented a tux.
We had dinner at my friend's house and my date spent most of the time telling us about his arsonist tendencies. My friend's date (the girl) kept making eyes at me. It was all very terrible.
The dance was worse. The music was crap and my date didn't dance with me one single time. We did get a pic though. I came across it a few years ago and I decided to rewrite history. I had a friend photoshop my best friend's face onto my date's body. I gave it to him for his birthday and he loved it. We both have it hanging up in our homes. Because we're dorky like that.
Oh, and I know my hair is...very Texas. What can I say? It was 1994! And my dress was my mom's from the 60s. Red velvet. I loved it.

Oh, wow! LOL! What a great picture! That background is pretty sweet. ;)
I'd post a pic, but I never went to my Prom! Maybe I can find a Homecoming picture around somewhere... |

That is a pretty painful prom.
Mine wasn't so bad, though I wouldn't consider it good either. I didn't have a date, so I went with my two best friends. Music was horrible. I danced once, I think. Maybe twice. (I'm a horrible dancer and terribly self-conscious at times...) I'd post a picture, but they're not on the computer, so I'd have to scan one, and then I'd have to figure out how to even post a picture on the board, so I don't think I'm going to, as I'm sure you'll all manage just fine not seeing me in my prom dress (My apologies for the run-on sentence) |

Ok Anne...I was looking through an old photo album and your prom was in 1994...well, this is the only "dance" picture I could find of myself from 1994. :P
Oh, and here is me at my house before the high school Homecoming dance...either 1999 or 2000. I hate that dress. What was I thinking? What a dork! lol.

Okay! i'll join in, my prom was on cinco de mayo of this year, and something extraordinary happened. We were at dinner, at this fancy restaurant, and at the end of the meal our waiter came over and told all 14 of us, that our dinner was on the house, because the man sitting behind us had agreed to pick up the tab. Weird, it was probably somewhere in the ball park of 500+ dollars.
And here are the pictures!
Here's me and my date, Phil. This was after dinner.
This is me and my buddy Abby, at after prom. After prom was at our school. They have it so kids won't go off and drink, but kids just go off and drink after after prom. To get kids to go they had a raffle with iPods and I think someone even won a Wii. they had Starbucks gift cards, and Target giftcards and what not. It was a carnival theme, so they had a laser tag thing, and a moonwalk.
Here's me and my other friend, Jessica at Kayla's house. She has a pool. And a waterfall

Oh yeah, and they played that, "Because I got high," song at prom. I don't know why... It was DJ'ed by a local radio station.
Oh yeah, my grandmother died the day before. That sucked.

My prom was May 2006. It was the same day as my high school swimming teams end of the season meet-Section Championships. I think we finally left the pool at 4:30 and then met with the guys at 6:30 so no fancy hairstyles for us. And since we had raced all day we were completley exhausted and ended up leaving early and just crashing at someones house. I don't have a scanner so I can't show the professional picture, but....
Here are the girls. I'm the one in the black.
And add the guys:

Why on Earth would they have the swim meet the same day as Prom?!? But you girls still look nice...even without fancy hair :)
