gongs=prizes? Maybe they are gong shaped trophies? Or is gong slag?
Either way, i think it means "if they win the prize," whether gong is literal or not

Ahah! *closes the dictionary*
According to Longman, 'to scoop' is British English for 'to win a prize or award', and 'a gong' means in informal British English 'a medal, title, or prize that someone is given' :)
I must say 'to scoop the gongs' does sound infinitely better than 'to win an award'. It definitely suits the hot couple :) I hope they will. Scoop the gongs, that is :) |
